tire size
the answer is not as straight forward as it seems. the biggest size you can fit depends mainly on the tire of choice, and the intended usage of the car. people have fit 275 slicks on there stock wheels, but obviously this is not DD or track.
you can fit 255s but they will bulge, have a soft sidewall, and have a more "mushy" feeling on turn in. this is exaggerated more so on the star specs bc they run slightly wider than most other tires.
if your looking for a good fit, no bulge, and crisp handling, a 245/40 is a great size. again, depends on the intent of the car. 245 for 8in, 255 for 9, 265/75 for 9.5 is a good baseline. more info for better advice...

the star specs in 255/40/17 don't bulge very much and their sidewalls are extremely stiff. i've been very happy with them and plan on ordering them again next season when these ones are through.
this is my second season on this particular set and they still have quite a good bit of life left in them. last year i did a time trial event on the big track at Beaver Run and several autocrosses. wear was significantly less than i expected.
i'm running a fairly conservative alignment, nearly factory spec, at the stock ride height and have had no rubbing issues whatsoever. prior to these i had some 245/45/17's (i forget which brand they were) on Works springs and they didn't rub either.
tight turning radius is somewhat diminished with the 255's as compared to smaller sizes, but it's not really bad. the evo already pretty much requires a 3 point turn for everything anyways.
