I pay around $700 with New Jersey Manufacturers. I have to review my premium to split out the multi-car discounts and dividends.

Yes, you have to work for a member company (most large companies are) and I think you have to have a clean driving record (three prior years with no tickets having points).

I work for a school system and I have a clean record. I've been driving for 4 and a half years now.

Expect high premiums until you hit 25 or government does something about NJ insurance law.
Insurance here just suck.

One more thing... don't even think about living in Jersey City or Newark... it's anywhere between 50 and 100% increase of what you'd get anywhere else.

Although it's a lot, it's not too bad for Jersey. I was 24 when I bought my first car in US and it was at the time 2 year old Honda Accord EX (4cyl) 4dr.
I was paying $1850 with State farm up in Cliffside Park.
