NYC Out of State Car Registration

I moved to New York City last fall and am going to bring my car here in the spring. I will have to register it here in New York and it looks like it is going to be a PITA. Anyone have experience doing this? Also how hard is it to pass the smog test? I have an 8 with Turbo back exhaust, a high flow cat, cams, intake, tune, intercooler and 20% tint on the windows. Will any of those items be of issue? Thanks in advance

What state are you coming from? I bought mine in NJ and live in NY. It was pretty simple actually all you need is the registration insurance and title I believe. As far as inspection goes you have 10 or 14 days to get it done after registering the car. It can be done at almost any shop or gas station. Just ask around in sure you'll find someone to take care of you. Good luck

As far as DMV paperwork, insurance, title and reg is all you need.

Passing OBD2 is easy as long as there are no check engine light and you are using stock ecu. Just make sure all readyness monitors are set.

Usually the inspectors don't even check the exhaust.......

Yea as long as the CEL is not on you should be ok. If you go to a place and they bother you about the exhaust/tints/whatever let me know and I will send you to a place where they won't.
