So I got pulled over and fined $110 for having tint, 35% to be exact. I am winged and have a semi loud Megan exhaust. The cop wasn't a jerk or anything. Seemed like a rookie piglette. Never had a problem since I got my Evo 14 months ago. Anyone else getting pulled over/fined for tint? Should I even try to fight it?

 

Is it a fix-a-ticket in PA? If so, scrape the front windows and have the ticket waived.

 

If your tint is within the state laws then fight it. If not, then rules is rules broseph.

35 is our limit in NZ for aftermarket tint, no limit on factory tint. Not really useful info but might be interesting to someone.

 

The style of your car had nothing to do with the fact that its obviously not legal. there are definitely people who have been pulled for the same reason

 

How would they know if it's factory or not? Or if you ordered your car to have tints from the dealer? Just wondering seems weird to me.

 

70% is the legal limit here. thats equivelant to a dirty window.

 

I live in nj and its illegal to have any tint on any front windows. I've gotten pulled over and ticketed atleast half a dozen times and just paid the fines it's only like 46 bucks. It's just a pita that the cops take time to fine people for dumb stuff like that.

 

Factory tints are tinted glass. Aftermarket are glass with tinted film. My wagon has a really dark (like 15 or 20) tint on the rear doors and back window and a lighter film on the front doors.

 

Some times Illegal is ILLEGAL... at the 300.00 you have paid for tint tickets...is it really dumb...?

 

I wouldn't call it dumb. I wouldn't want to have to pull over and approach a car at night with tint on and not see what's happening inside.

 

Who's to say what you can or can not have on your car especially if it's not affecting anyone say like a loud exhaust. Cops are just looking for ways to take money out of our pockets.

Ive been pulled over in Ohio I just paid the ticket which was $160 its cheaper than to waste time fighting the ticket, removing tint and then putting new tint on. Though the ticket was a bit steep in my opinion.

 

Yea man I lived in the heidleberg country club right next to bernville for a couple years... I had 20% tint. And my evolution was blacked out to the Max. I used to get tickets from bernville cops and Bern township by Porsche and Audi all the time. Had about 33 tickets total. It got to the point where the cops were like see you next time. Cause I told them I would never take it off.
