Giod your a ****in idiot. After the damage is already done? Really? Maybe becaues you brought him a pos to begin with, he was honest with you and said he didn't feel that there was something right, and it is his fault because he did the right thing by not tuning anymore? Then on top of that you go to another shop, they rebuild your motor after they tell you that its already fine? Then you tell everyone you don't know much about the cars to begin with. So let me get this straight Akuma is the bad shop for doing the right thing, you take it to another shop and basically they *** raped you for a new motor being it was good supposedly when they checked it out, then Akuma is the bad shop?

Ok so after rereading a little you said this, but yet he gave you the #s for the compression test, and you said you don't know what that means but yet you say say he blew up the motor and then the next sentence you say you told him to do a compression test? Dude your a ****ing tool. People like you do not diserve to drive cars like this because all you do is ruin the image of all of us who are worthy. If I can be blunt I hope your car never runs again and you get stuck for 10s of thousands of dollars on a motor build and tuning and everything else and are forced to sell the car because of your stupidity both you and your butt buddy. What kills me is if this shop is so terrible why did your buddy go there after you did to get his stuff done and tuned? Everyone "I give you your moron" as Homer Simpson would say.

I will sum it up for you. Turd #1 brings car to Akuma to have it tuned, Akuma says hey cars not making the power it should, motor seems to be a little bit tired I'm not tuning it anymore, which would be the right thing. Guy gets car back takes it to another shop, shop says theres nothing wrong with it but lets rebuild a perfectly good motor.

Turd #2 his buddy gets a Map motor, Akuma puts it in, guy puts break in miles on it, Akuma does the tune, guy picks up the car and driving it home there was a failure somehow. Turd #2 refuese to show the car,damage, failure to Akuma and claims that they screwd it up. Now he sends the motor back to MAP and wants them or Akuma to pay for the screw up. Akuma basically said hey if I screwed it up I will fix it no problem. Not good enough and now they both bash Akuma for tring to do the right thing because there prob some spoiled kids tring to get a freebee from reputable shops. I already stated I hope Map finds the issue, and it isn't the shops fault nor Maps fault and this doucebag has to pay for yet another motor, another turbo, and to pay for the motor being reinstalled yet again.

It would be best practice for a shop to perform compression test before tuning anyones car or performing any kind of service of increasing HP, that way the customer cannot come back and say you blew up my motor, but the issue is GREED, ALL SHOPS ARE THE SAME! They take your money install all this s**t then after the fact they tell you that ooh your motor is tired... BS. I know shops want to work in their own intrest, but that leads to issues like this. Had they performed tests to make sure the integridy of the motor is ok "Before the work was done, this would not have happened, if any shop does work on a car without testing they are 100% responsable for anything that happens. If I where a shop owner I would: 1. inform the customer that compression tests are required before any mods & tunes are performed, and the charge is 1hr of labor. If the customer refuses then they would be required to sign a waiver and that they refused pre-test required for this type of service and the shop is not responsable from this point forward. But for shops to make you sign a waiver that no matter what happens they are not responable and not require testing the motor! Horse****!

Some shop owners tried this and it ended up with people like you posting stuff like this "Damn greedy shop wanted to charge me $100 to do a compression test on my motor which I know is good and damn near new!"

As far as waivers go nearly every shop I know of has people sign one when they walk in the door, you pretty much have to with the crap people do to their cars to save a little cash. At some point the consumer needs to own up for their own actions and equipment.

Now the large shops can tell you they have to cut a lot of the things they would normally do out that make sense to do but customers DON'T want to pay for them. Just like OP of this thread that felt like he paid too much because his car was damaged during the tune. This whole story is like a women going in for breast implants, the doctor telling her he wants to stop and run some tests because she has a lump. Then she packs up goes to another doctor and he says no your fine, it's there but not cancerous at this point.

Here's a good read for you;

Hollywood X, PEOPLE LIKE ME? You don't FKN know me, where did I say "Damn greedy shop wanted to charge me $100 to do a compression test on my motor which I know is good and damn near new!"

When I stated that about Greedy Shops taking money, when your working on somes car and you don't know the history of the car, why would you "as a shop owner" take the liability of Modding somes car with turbos, injectors and what not, without checking the integrady of the motor. YOUR AN IDIOT AS A SHOP OWNER IF YOU DO! ITS BECAUSE THEY DO NOT WANT TO TURN DOWN WORK! Its about honesty, and I have yet to see one with the acception of STM, Emery checked my car out before doing anything. I might of complained that I paid a bit too much but hey, Quality of work comes with a price.

I don't have to know you, I just read your words and take them for their meaning.
Your talking out of both sides of your mouth, you complain about these shops being greedy (The bold part I quoted from you) then in the same breath you say they should require / charge for extra testing.Which way is it?

Now to clarify something, shop owners don't assume liability when working on someones car, that's why they don't just require a bunch of random un needed testing. It's your responsibility as a consumer to ask questions and plan accordingly. It's not the shops job to check references and ensure the health of your car, they can provide that service if you ask for it but making it mandatory would just be cutting their own throats at this point.

It's obvious your missing the point! A good shop owner will make sure the car he is working on can support the mods it's part of their job, and not MOD it, blow the motor then tell them oh you need a rebuild thats how hacks work. I understand that sh*t happens from time to time. In this case there are some serious issue on both ends, the Shop and the Owner of the car.

Giod88, the compression reading you got should be with in 10% tolorance, anything higher you may have some issues going on, so if the shop you took it to never performed the compression test before performing work, it leaves it up in the air on who is at fault. So you will have a tough time proving it was this shops fault and your really can't blame them 100%, as I was trying to state before hollywood decided to put his two cents in, if you had known you had compression issue before you had the mods done to your car, you might have not gone thru with it. This is where I say "GREED" the shop did not want to turn down the business weather your car was a POS or not "just saying".

It isn't up to the shop to make sure the car is in good working order its the owners. I have had my evo tuned by 3 different shops and I will tell you not one of them did a compression check. 1 out of the 3 did a boost leak test and I was not charged for it being it was part of the deal. When you take a car into a shop to have it tuned that is all that is done unless the guy getting tuned asks for more work to be done. Shops aren't gonna do **** for free unless it is agreed upon. This also has nothing to do with greed. Obviously a boost leak test is prob more bennificial being if there is a leak it needs to be addressed before tuning begins.

Greed came in as soon as the he took it to the other shop and they said it was fine and decided to rebuild the motor if you ask me.
