nyc: dealer/tunner/meet
wassup guys, new to the forum. from nyc. just wanted to get some ideas for my self and for other noobs who might need this info.
everyone has their own dealer, tuner, and a meet they like to go to. so if your are in nyc and u have used a dealer, tuner, and went to a meet post your thoughts and recommendations here.
Dealer : long island city mitsu, good depending on who you get
tuner : never had a evo tuner but used TnR for other cars and they are "ok", not good.
meets: don't know any available for NYC

TnR, is no longer on medic accross from Romeo. I went to them for everything from 2002-2010. They had a guy named dusty as a main engine builder, he works for Ferrari (so I have been told) now. Every sinse he left along with the old crew, tony has been hiring, no experience kids and paying the $200-$400 a week for 12 hour shifts and 6 days of work. I stoped going there after they put a big scratch on my car and tried to cover it up with touch up paint. Then when they installed a walbro on my rx8 they left the cap loose and I was spilling fuel all the way home. Yes, they tune civics and rx7s well. Romeo was good untill AL from TnR started to wk there. e is .
He is A big time crook. I can tell u stories, but just like all tuners and shops, people's experiences are different, that was my experience. I live very close to them, like blocks. I have been watching them going downhill for the last 5-6 year's.

I have actually gone to DRT to have certain bolt-ons installed because I did not want to deal with the headache e.g. Down pipe and exhaust. They did a really good job and I have no complaints. Yes, they specialize in civics but have done well with my Evo X. As far as tuning goes, they do not provide that service. For tuning I would recommend Akuma motor sports. I have seen and heard nothing but good things from them. I actually plan on getting my tune from them in the next couple of weeks.
recently i went to top level. ricky and dexter are a good group of people. i love the Fact ricky is a builder and tuner. prices are really good. i like the fact that ricky is good in trouble shooting ticks and crackles and weird noices. i bought my car 7 months ago and the previous owner used another shop (one of our evom vendors/shops) to do the timing belt job. the car use to vibrate after 3k rpm, i always thought it was the stiff motor mount. i chaged it to stock and it still did that, ricky diagnosed it to be a timing/balance shaft issue. he recommended i upgrade cames so he doesnt have to charge me for one job. good guy
