Question for those in the know; shuffle steering or the 10-2/9-3 method... what say you and why??
No right or wrong answers, just curious what you do and why. Discuss...

I've got to do one of these "autox"events. Though I feel it's more like staged rally. Insurance must be high for organizers.

9-3 method. Don't like shuffling because steering wheel ends up in the wrong position sometimes.

I done told chu, 9-3 so you know where steering center is. Shuffle only if your car doesn't have tight steering ratio. Shouldn't need to shuffle steering I for evo unless you're drifting like foren. Put that piece of tape with 9-3 back on your steering wheel. Ish ain't a game son.

so what you're saying is I shouldn't be keeping one hand at the 12 o'clock position and resting the other on the shifter??

Depends. At AX I always be shufflin'...I started shuffling shortly after I started AX (13 years ago). I have been slowly unlearning this on the track, but I've never had a problem with knowing/sensing when the wheels are straight even if the steering wheel is on crooked (you can see me dealing with this in my comp school video).

Autox - 9.5/2.5 it's in between, don't shuffle unless you need to break the lock for a corner that needs it. It also depends on the car's steering rack ratio if you shuffle.

Drag - 9 and shifter.

Road course - 9-3 should never have to break this unless you are "tank slapping".

Why? Because it all feels natural and gives me the best control and feedback.

sounds like me.

I started shufflin because of autox and carried it over to DE. Now I'm constantly telling my self to keep my hand still, lol. Hard technique to unlearn. I like keeping my hands where they are on the wheel cause it feels like i have better control of the car and i 'think' I am using less steering now than when I was shufflin'

An interesting debate this topic. When I started autox, everyone told me to shuffle. It was un-natural but I learned it. At the track, I try not to shuffle, but I cant' avoid it. The reason for me is I have short legs and a long torsol. For my feet to be in a comfortable for the pedals, I have to sit forward, and that casue my arms to jam. So I basically do it based on the approaching corner. FOr the most part, I try not to shuffle. Ideally, I would extend my pedals up so I can sit further back to avoid shuffling. If you look at an professional driver on track, no one shuffles.

Firstly, I prefer you not address me as I have not addressed you.

Secondly, who said that was directed towards you or anyone or even meant to be insulting? I don't give two ***** about you so go **** yourself, *******!
