Question New to EVOs - will be buying one tommorrow MR05

Hey guys, I'll be picking up a 05 MR Evo tommorrow and wanted to know if you have links to any evo groups, and if anyone can give me some advice when buying, or things to look for, also any information on available shops in the area. Thanks! I live near the border of nassau and suffolk on the south side.

Heres a link to my other post about buying: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/11...-post3987.html

Guys name is Rob from medford, was tuned by e-pec - erkle - Found a couple of problems, but have been searching elsewhere, some are local, some are far away. I'm really overwhelmed with the different mods all these guys have on their cars.

I'm looking to buy an Evo in the near future too. Would like to know what to look for when buying a modified Evo (ie Signs of abuse). I'm interested in knowing what kind of maintenance costs I will be looking at.

IMO

If maintenance costs of owning a car are even a thought in you mind keep your Passat until a day where they are not.

That bad depends on your finances obviously. However if car maintenance is something you even need to consider when buying a car the EVO is not for you

Take your time and find the right one. Most of the time you can find a better deal if you're willing to travel outside of NY. If you have any questions about mods you see on a car don't hesitate to PM me and I'll try to help you out best I can.

I have to kinda agree with gsrboi on this one. While the maintenance costs are not incredibly ridiculous, they are still more than your average car.

Take a look here, it's a good start https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...oking-evo.html

DSM, sent you a PM, I also found a nice option of getting a rolling chasis (43k miles) + build the motor, turbo kit, and transmission for around 26k, thinking of jumping on that one. Nothing beats a fresh motor.

I always consider maintenance costs when buying a vehicle, and I think most of us do. My lease will be up in 15 months so I'm planning ahead. If the maintenance costs are that high, I may just lease Evo X for $369/month and not worry about any additional costs for 24 months. Unless I do find that Evo 9 I always wanted with all scheduled maintenance records in hand. I need to find a trustworthy garage to have this car serviced and tuned. If I can't find any tuner near Syracuse,NY, then I may just forget about my Evo and just lease another VW Passat.
