Looking for Evo X MR owners in/near Boston
Thinking about picking up a 2014 Evo X MR. Would like to meet up with owners in or near Boston. I have a ton of questions about where to buy new, what the ownership experiences have been like, how the cars are holding up w/ New England winters. Like I said, tons of questions before taking the plunge. Coming from a 2006 WRX with zero issues in 8 years of ownership, I'm a little worried about all the reports of Mitsubishi dealers not honoring warranty claims, problems with ACD/AYC pumps, etc.
Yes, read about NEEVO, but I don't FB...

There have been a few problems here and there, but nothing major so far, although I DO spend an inordinate amount of time wondering when stuff is going to start falling apart. I'm pretty sure that in 8 years from now, you won't be able to make the same claim about having zero issues with your car should you pick up an X.
You should swing by Quincy on the weekend or after work one day and can check out both cars. Her's is a 2010 with 30k and mine is a 2012 with 10k. She has the SSS package with wing, leather, RF system and mine is without any of that. Cars are both relatively stock, but drive pretty differently. Hers has always felt more 'planted' when cornering and mine is a bit louder (I believe they did something to accentuate the exhaust tone beyond 2010) and has a little more pep.

Mind if I ask what kind of minor issues? And was the dealer good about doing the repairs?
Also forgot ask if you MR guys and gals leave it in auto 90% of the time.

Most of the stuff is minor and a given with Mitsubishis.
Some other stuff that is either preventative or personal preference is stuff like replacing the fuel pump relays. I've gone through some tires pretty quickly, needed to upgrade the speakers, have had some alignment issues since day 1 and have had a clunking from the front right for the last week or so, which is either an endlink or strut bolt needing to be tightened or possibly replaced. This isn't really related to the car, but rather due to hitting a number of potholes around the area.
I'm coming from daily driving a supercharged IS300 and Evo8. I loved the service from Lexus and every part of the car was bulletproof compared to Mitsubishi, but I was well aware of all the gremlins and quality of Mitsubishi when stepping into the X. It's not perfect and I'll end up changing out some suspension stuff this spring and maybe do some bolt-ons to help out the power in the upper RPMs, but out of the box its a decent car.
I was immediately sold on the car after feeling the tranny on the MR and you'll love it if you haven't already tested one out. I leave mine in auto 100% of the time.
Damn, that may be more problems than I've had with my past three cars combined ('89 Tacoma, '95 Taurus SHO, '06 WRX).
Yeah, it's the combination of AWD, performance and TC-SST that has me intrigued.
If you got to do it again would you still get the EVO?

Bought a 2014 WW MR in December, put new Enkeis + Blizzaks on it and its been absolutely ridiculous in the snow. Never stuck!
Gas mileage seems to be improving a bit, going to tune in the spring and put a few mods on.
I really like it as a DD, I'm 6'6 and the GSR didn't feel right for me with the shifter, with the seat all the way back my arm wasn't comfortable making shifts. I also love the leather heated recaros, if you can, I'd say go for as many options as possible.

Probably, but if something else came along soon with similar performance and even slightly better quality/customer service/durability, I'd let this go in a heartbeat.

To think there's no push button start and telescoping steering wheel on a 40k car...
Actually, it's been the same with the Evo. lol Lots of small things adding up to be a pain. I also forgot to include that my car was making a weird whining sound on cold days when first driving in the last month or so. It's stuff like this that seems like it might be isolated to my car and I dont give it much attention, but when looking around I start to realize how common all of these problems are. Found people with the same sound that I'm getting - https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...ving-slow.html I wouldn't even mention the small stuff because my one car isn't at all representative of all Evos, but the thing is that there are tons of small issues with these cars.
Also, for the last couple of weeks the car has felt a bit sluggish. Its something that probably happened gradually and I didn't really notice it at first. I put it in sport mode for maybe 1 mile the other night, but it gets kind of annoying because it revs to all hell but doesn't really get me anywhere much faster, so I switched it back off. After that and the following morning it felt way more responsive and put a smile on my face, but now feels a lot less responsive. I'm very objective and know quite a bit about cars and know it's not just in my mind. One more thing to try to figure out.
I know it sounds like a lot of bad, but there's also a lot of good, however you have to drive it to really understand the good. You should swing by Quincy and take it for a spin.
Yeah, I would have LOVED to get another Lexus, but never liked the look of the 2nd gen and hate the back of the 3rd gen now. Lexus of Watertown was absolutely incredible. Had a couple of minor things that they took care of quickly, tried using a burned cd once and screwed up the cd player and they gave me a loaner and replaced the whole headunit free of charge. They were still willing to do some random stuff that I needed replaced due to wear and tear even after I modified the hell out of it. They never asked questions or tried to deny any warranty stuff, etc. and always ran it through their car wash whenever I stopped by. There were a lot of small things that made a big difference.
