I wish I could go. I went to Saturday's event at Ripken Stadium. Nice lot. Chris Wollard was there in his ESP Evo.

 

I also wish I could go, but that's a 4 hour drive for me, a little too long for an Auto-X.

Can't believe Chris Woolard got 1st in PAX by 0.001!!! That's like running over a small pebble.

 

What still amases me, is that turbodad was able to fit 275's on his car (race compund) . that is 40mm wider than the stock tires. If you assume that the lengh of the contact patch is about 3cm, then he was getting 4x3=12 sqare cm more tire area per corner (that is about a 15% increase in surface area). That is quite cool.

I'm also surprised that SCCA allows race compund tires in stock classes. Race tires compared to street tires are usually over a 1 second gain.

 

I don't think they are up yet.

But stock classes allow replacement of wear items. Tires are a wear item. But DOT R tires are not 1 second faster than street tires. Try more lilke 4-8 seconds

BTW, if you guys did not here. Ryan Dunn from JACKASS was there and got 2nd place in B - Stock.

 

This depends on many factors -- lot surface, course length, which street tire/race tire you are talking about, car. But it is closer to 1-2 seconds and definately not 4-8 seconds, esp when you are talking about the stock Evo tires. I had fastest time of the day at an event last year with the stock Advans on the car.

 

Good job to speedlimit and the other 3 guys who came out to auto-x first time in the their life! You guys cought on fast!

Thanks for the help Xtnct and nice to see you again Trbo Dad! Fun to see a little 4 door sedan turn in the fastest time of the day!!! Go EVO's!!!! Everyone was extremely helpful. Please thank the instructors and Frank Gonzales for the quick trip in the ZO6! I had a great time and plan to try again. It took me most of the day just to make it around the track without being off course ! But I will get better!!
