Cool Suspension Tuning "Group Buy"

New Date: Thursday, June 9

I'm organizing a Suspension Tuning day for EVO's, where Robi (from www.robispec.com) will fly out to Seattle and work on up to four cars. I'm paying for his ticket to Seattle and shipping of his specialty tools, but I ask you contribute $35 if you sign up to get any work done. Andre from PINA Motorsports has kindly offered use of his shop (pick up some power upgrades while you're there!).

What: Robi Suspension Tuning
Location: PINA Motorsports
When: Thu 06/09, 10:00 am - 6:00 pm
Why: Faster 1/4 mile, Faster Lap / Auto-X Time, Better Car Control

The cost for people is for whatever you want done as listed below, plus the contribution towards setting up the event. The menu (all prices inlcude parts, labor, and shipping):

  1. Espilir GT Springs ($400)
  2. Rear Sway-Bar ($250)
  3. Rear Bushings ($175)
  4. Rear Bump Steer Correction ($195)
  5. Roll Fenders to fit 275 tires ($300)
  6. Custom Alignment ($180)
  7. Corner Weighing ($250)
Robi also offers other non-suspension stuff (like underbody aero panels, brake cooling ducts, etc.) Call Robi with special request / questions (or post in this thread).

Who:

1. Ralph (1-6) - Thu Morning
2. Eric (1-6) - Thu Afternoon

Success Stories:

I would be in interested in the rear bump steer correction.

This can include installing springs, bushings, coilovers, sway bars, rolling fenders for wider tires, etc. Robi recently set up an MR that scored an impressive auto-x win. (https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/showthread.php?t=135377)

We'd need a minimum of 4 people for this (myself + 3). The cost per person is for whatever you want done / parts, plus a share of the cost of having Robi come out to do the work, and use of the shop where the work gets done (or if somebody has a big garage with air tools that'll work too). The menu (so far):

> Springs $400 installed
> Rear bar $250 installed
> rear bushing $175 installed
> rear bump steer correction $195 installed
> Roll all 4 corners to fit up to 275 rubber $300.00

Of course, most of us know how to install springs / bars ourselves, but the main value in having him come out is in his knowledge of combining the right parts / settings, and the more exotic things like the bump steer correction & fender rolling.

A ticket for him to Seatac and back is about $300 and I can put him up at my place for free - so for 4 people it will be $75 + whatever you want of the menu (shared cost goes down with more people).

Any interest?

The front bushing of the rear lower trailing arm should be done as well. and the car would then need an alignment...I use a trackside portable laser system that Penske racing uses for their cars...haven't done an evo that was aligned correctly yet...

Good to know. I don't have a lot of knowledge tuning suspension...so I'm eager to see what some pro help can do.

Thanks for jumping in Robi . Do you have a price for the alignment I can put on the "menu"?

Localy I charge 250 to cornerweight and 180 for the full 4 wheel alignment (over 4K$ in PORTABLE equipment) or eveything for 400. I know it sounds like a lot but 4 of the last 6 cars required that I extend the slots in the unibody to get the settings where they needed to be. Usually I try to bundle as much at one time and that allows me to reduce the total labor portion.

Any person w/ coil overs should be all over this. It is not too often that we get someone w/ EVO suspension experience up here in the northwest. I would be up there in a heart beat if I had any suspension mods.

I agree and anyone who is thinking about doing coilovers in the future too..all of these suspension mods will enhance the effectiveness of whichever coilover system you choose to go with...later...and give you coilover like handling (I know without any adjustability) for the cost of the springs alone..I like the street ride better than the stock springs too (nicer on the small ripples no bottoming out on the heavier hits).

All in all the car corners flatter, pushes less, (almost never if you drive it right) and is easier to drive at the limit for more consistant laptimes...

I think most people are working on Wednesdays (especially those in the military that CAN'T have a day off). We've got stock suspension right now, and don't really plan on messing with it. I hope more people jump on it, though!! Sounds like a great opportunity!!

I'm good as long as it doesn't conflict with an existing appointment/Trackday
