Best Buy Warning
Hey Optimus...
I've worked for best buy for years...what they told you is false UNLESS it can be proven it is customer abuse! Get the sales manager or general manager involved. If that gets you no where...call 1-888-best-buy. That's the main corporate customer service number and they will resolve the problem for you.
Hope that helps...

Oh yeah I forgot this part of what Notech said is true...

That means if you blow em One time after the original warranty expires but within the remainder of the psp, you can have them replaced but then the psp is finished. At that time, you should be able to re-purchase the psp on the new speakers and continue the cylce again. But at the store I worked at, if you were a cool polite customer, we would swap em out for the entire 4 years. We didnt care.

aww.. the girl was nice enought to underline it... but i noticed something...
it says
This plan is inclusive of the manuf. warranty; it doesn not replance the manfucaturer's warranty, but provides ceratin additional benefits during the term of the manfu. warranty. After the manuf. warranty, this plan continues to provide some of the manuf. benefits as well as certain additional benefits listend... not going to list but that stupid ***** read it wrong...
it says a few lines down... the plan provides coverage for product failures due to dust, heat, humidity and normal wear and tear.
Wow i would have really felt dumb if i would have submitted something to bbb... still an interesting topic...

you should be covered. you might even try going back into the same best buy when the people you spoke to aren't there. just remember to be calm if possible, because angry and loud complaints will not get you very far at best buy. state your case and just insist that they show you where in the plan it states that your damage is not covered
It sounds like you bought the extended warranty because it was represented as an extension to the manufacturers warranty. If they are not honoring it as such, they are misleading their consumers.
You do have a good resource to use as your advocate. If you do not have luck resolving this with Best Buy corporate, notify our State Attorney General Office. They will treat this quite seriously. Here's a link http://www.atg.wa.gov/consumer/complain.shtml

here is the problem with most extended waranty's:
cover manufactures defects beyond 1 year up to 4 years. the product just has to fail. this is bs... so fix it like this: buy new sub,put old piece of crap in box.......
Find a different location to go to. the people you were dealing with were dumb. if you cant get help, get the store manager to call the regional, WHILE YOU ARE THERE. dont leave without a new sub or a refund on the remainder of the service plan.
from a higher up point of view, i get more pissed off at associates or other store managers who do not take care of the customer.

Damn, EricR beat me to it! BBB is useless. It's a club that businesses join and they agree to be good enough to not get complaints from a certain %age of customers. If you REALLY want to make a stink, the state AG is the way to go. They have legal authority and can actually do something to get the issue resolved (whatever the resolution is going to be). So you can contact the AG about the extended warranty replacing the subs, and then if you don't get new ones, you can discuss failure to uphold a contract, or misleading business practices such as "extended warranty"
In my case I got my hood repainted by my Mitsu dealership after being told by the sales person that paint was warrantied. The district rep kept stalling until after 12 weeks I finally wrote a letter to the dealership manager advising him that unless resolution was made in 14 days I was going to turn the matter over to the state AG for breach of warranty contract. I had emails, names of people I spoke with, and when, and it was all nicely documented. It took 3 days from the time I mailed the letter to get a call saying "take it to this place, we'll pay for it" I called the shop and tehy were expecting me- it had already been paid for
A nice aside- the dealership is no longer in business.

I would say 90% of extended warranties are scams. All the $$ you spend on extended warranties most likely offsets any usefulness you get from them in the long run. My favorite is the "free tire replacement" scam. They are always like "well you know if you get a flat with low profiles, you can't tell, and it could shred the tire". I'm always like "any moron knows when they have a flat, and flats can be repaired by you for free so I'm not worried". They then try to scare you with "but what if the nail goes through a non-repairable area?" Hehe unless I'm driving on the sides of my tires, I'm probably never going to run something over in a non-repairable area, and even if I do, it will have been paid for by all the tire warranty money I've saved over the years not getting them.
I DO have an extended warranty on my car but only because it was free (thanks to the bank saying they wouldn't finance unless it had one).

I never buy extended warranty, for cars or for any other products. I would agree that it's pretty close to scams and they're generally a waste of money. It's almost pure profit for them, that's why they push it so hard at retail stores as well as for cars.
Did you purchase the item w/ a visa or mastercard? I know for Visa/Mastercard platinum they double your manufacturer warranty up to a year. e.g, if your warranty is 3 months, they'll match it to make it 6 months, if it's a year they'll double it to two years, if it's 2 years, they'll make it 3 years.
Read the little visa/mastercard coverage pamplet with the little prints and you'll see that you're entitle to this with some exceptions... such as auto parts, n' other stuff. I am pretty sure electronic stuff is covered. They also have a phone number to call to make your claim.

i went in yesterday morning and played it off like nothing ever happened... and they swapped them with no hassle.. no question whatsoever... the customer service people must have had a bad night the night before... oh well..
i got my subs that's all that matters... thanks for the info ... i didn't that about mastercard/visa... good looking out!
