Kitsap NASCAR track

Greetings all
So there's not a lot of information yet about the new ISC/NASCAR track that will probably be coming to the Kitsap area. From the sound of things, though- newspaper reports about its location near the county border and the airport- the existing Bremerton Motorsports Park may be a thing of the past in 2007.

I'm asking that everyone who's ever considered a track day, autocross or drag race at BMP get involved in the design process. There's a proposal for a 1.2 mile track that would include an infield that could potentially be multiuse. The 7/8 mile track is just an oval. ISC says that they anticipate... are you sitting down... THREE events a YEAR including a NASCAR race, an openwheel race of some sort and a local stock car race. That's it! That's another 49 weekends a year we could be out there scrubbing rubber off of our tires. I don't know who to talk to yet. I've only heard a few people in the racing community talk about this online (admittedly I don't go to many forums, but WWSCC.org/forums only has 3 posts about it). So far the plan seems to be register at www.race2wa.com for the newsletter and find out when the community meetings will be.

If you want club racing in Kitsap to be BETTER THAN BMP (and I know that's about 100% of us ) we need to get involved. Porsche club, Alfa club, BSCC, SCCA, Hornets and drag racers all have an interest in continuing to have a race facility in Kitsap county. Some of us do more with our cars than just wax them and places to bump the rev limiter legally are becoming scarce and far away (um, Packwood comes to mind as fitting this description as NWR/SCCA looked for a replacement for BMP).

I'm open to ideas. and if you find out anything for sure, please let everyone know.

yes!! http://race2wa.com/news/news.jsp?news_id=110
ISC announced a deal this week with Kitsap county. The Everett deal fell through last year, but ISC is determined to bring stock car racing to the Puget sound. Last year they had 11,000 reported ticket buyers from WA, OR and ID. Not quite the 80K they expect to fill the sunken bowl, but the nearest track is in Sonoma.

it would be nice to see something happen. there is very little available in either tracks or racing to northwesterners. aside from Historics where do people race here?

Exactly. I'm not financially solvent enough to afford racing at PR or PIR (licensing alone is cost prohibitive), that's part of the reason I autocross and I want to get into the lap days the clubs do at BMP.

this thing is still way below the radar. with the Bremerton track going down time at PR is going to get MORE expensive.

any of you microsoft big wigs put a bug in gates ear, he ought to have a track to run his nice cars.

I actually got an email from a guy who races at Bremerton and is in contact with the ISC. Acording to him, as soon as ISC heard that the BMP was going away (and we still don't have a date) the ISC decided to do the larger oval with the roadcourse and they'd make provisions for local club racing. Could be all hype to push some agenda, but it's the best offer we can get.

Keep your eye on race2wa. There is supposed to be a convergence of support on Olympia for NASCAR fans and local racers to show the state legislature that there is indeed support for this project.
