H&R Springs
Hey Guys!
I have a set of H&R springs sitting in my garage right now just taking up space. Anyone want them for say $100? They lower the car about 1in all the way around. The springs have about 5k miles on them and ride very close to stock. I live in Hillsboro (Portland Area) and would prefer a local pick up as I dont want to figure out how to ship these.
Later all!!
Chris

quoting Scot Gray
"unless you're buying $2k+ coilovers I'd stick with the stock suspension."
but screw him, I'm putting on Tein S Techs and KYB Jelly GR-2s on my evo. Nothing like puckering up your butthole from bottoming out your struts. It's all about making your evo look good and handle worse, right?

LOL,
That was the nice thing with the H&R springs. The ride was almost identicle to the stock springs but lowered the car about 1in all the way around. The handling doesnt get better or worse. This I know from running the car around our race track here and the corners reacted exactley the same, as was my average lap.
I didnt get coil overs I went back to the stock springs so I could get chains on the tires if I need to this winter. Planning on hitting the slopes alot more this year!

The stock struts can only take so much of a beating from ****ty springs. Lots of people have blown out their stock struts by running S Techs. The struts bottom out on bumps and uneven surfaces and give up. A good spring wouldn't let this happen. When you bottom out you 'skip' across the corner like you see all the ricey hondas do, they are pretty much riding on their bump stops. Furthermore, something screams in my head 'no' when I think about putting $125 springs on a $30,000 cars suspension. You would also be surprised in what 'feels' faster, when it is actually not.

I never had any bottoming out issues with the H&R springs. Like I said before, the ride is very similar to the stock springs with the exception that you are sitting a bit lower. About 1in lower all the way around to be exact.

Just FYI - I have never felt my suspension actually bottom out and hit the bump stops, and I do know what that feels like.
I say if people want to throw on some springs let them. From my perspective the car looks better and more importantly as far as I can tell performs as good if not better. At least that has been my experience. Moreover, it seems to be the experience of most of the people who have put on some aftermarket springs from what I can tell. Besides, my guess is that the majority of Evo owners who put springs on their cars want the improved look & performance... but don't track their cars, so they really won't know. I think Chris and I are the exceptions to the rule for most evo owners because we actually track our cars often... do you? Seems like you are kind of a hater. Just let people do what they want. If you think it's stupid, don't do it. Your opinion has been registered... now let it go.

Whos to say it was the springs that make your lap time faster, or the fact you knew the track better.
