I hate to do it, but here it goes..

ok, i hate reading posts from people who go "what should i do with x amount of money" or " what should i buy a x or x ?". So here i am doing the same thing. im stuck on the fence on what to do and want some imput from you guys (and gals)

A. buy the buscher (sp) 20g9 and have the hot side and my mani ported and jet coated and stay with my br 680 injectors. side note i have a peak boost fmic in the works once my core from my tc gets back.

B. buy the buscher gt35r kit and sell my 680's and get some 850's.

I want the fast spool of small turbo, but also dont want to get bored or disappointed
with lack of big power. also i dont want my friend to hand me my a$$ with his gt12 equiped sti all day either. so im stuck on my decision. I have till april when al from dyno flash is coming so im just fishing for some "what would you do advice" . thanx b

Your definitely in a tough spot. I recommend finding someone w/ an EVO that has a GT35R (I don't know of any off hand) or a DSM. This way you'll see what kind of lag your in for.

As for the 20g9, I would wait for some more "typical" results before buying one.

I did have a pte 60trim at one time on my talon. lag was bad but, im sure the gt35 will spool faster than a bushing 60trim. god that thing was HUGE. Before that i had a frank2 on it which is just about the size of a 20g i think.

GT35R would be my choice FOR SURE. Much more power potential, and everyone says it's the perfect set up for the car. Though if money is a big deal, the 20g would be a much better decision.

ya, the more reading up i do im finding myself leaning twards the 35r kit. i just like the fact i can slap in the 20g and go baby . but i think for the power id be happier with the 35r. mmmm, then maybe a 2.3l conversion.

I would hit up the 35 instead of the 20g. From the sounds of it you would get bored with the power the 20g could get you in the end. The 2.0 should flow just enough (as long as you allow it to porting, etc) so there isn't too much lag. By that I mean you should be able to reach full boost by 4500-4800rpm. <--Opps *edit fat finger

Good hunting!

Actually, the GT35R will spool very similar to a properly sized SC-60 60trim (20psi 4800-5000rpm in 3rd gear), but the GT35R will make more power at the same psi so it will not have the same laggy feel.

the 35r on my car hits 22psi by 4500 in 3rd, and 4th gets there by 4000-4100rpm. it could spool faster with a stiffer w/g spring, or the aem boost response adjusted.

Your results are not typical for mxost GT35R owners. There is a GT35R spool up thread that had datalogs of GT35R's. Most were hitting full spool in the 4800rpm range.

Either way Billy needs the GT35R so his Subaru friend doesn't walk all over him .
