Yup. I took the scenic route back from South Coast Mitsubishi with my brand new Evo! Went down Friday morning, got picked up from the airport by the salesperson, and went to go sign the papers and get out of there.
Well...so I thought. Car wasn't there yet when I was there. But this wasn't necessarily a bad thing. The truck arrived with my car on it maybe an hour later. Only 4 miles on the Odo, and still wrapped up. Once I saw it for the first time, I got this rush like I've never had before. I just couldn't believe that this was really going to be my car.
But not so fast. I hadn't signed anything yet. I spent another hour or so waiting for the finance person who would be having me sign the papers. This was the only sour part of my whole experience at the dealership. Robert (the finance guy) started telling me that they didn't want to take my Capital One loan since apparently "they don't pay quick enough." I saw right through his ploy right away, and it was confirmed with the next sentence, "but we can set you up with a similar rate through our bank. Let's just have you fill out an application." Yeah right. Like I was going to do that. I dug my heels in and said, "That's not gonna happen. Capital One is a very reputable company and this blank check from them is as good as cash." He saw I was being stubborn but he persisted. I told him about my connections on Evom.net, and how they would be "hearing about my entire experience." After probably a half an hour (and only after he discovered his bank wouldn't give me the same rate) he finally gave in and accepted the check.
Overall, I would give my experience at South Coast a 'B'. Mark (the salesperson) was awesome! He kept his word and I got the exact deal he promised over the phone. He was a very nice, honest guy and he even picked me up at the airport (like I said earlier). Robert was the only bad part of the whole experience.
So I left the dealership a little later than I'd hoped, but in the car of my dreams. I followed the coast up through almost all of California, and fell in love with my car through the countless twisties and sparse traffic holding me back. It was pure bliss. The car handled better, accelerated faster, braked quicker, and in general performed better than I ever imagined. The seat was even fairly comfortable for the long drives.
Amazingly, the driving came off without a hitch. My entire family and some of my friends were worried I would get lost or even crash my new car. I'm happy to say they were wrong. I went into a 4-wheel slide around one corner and it was more exhilarating than scary. It was like the car knew what it needed to do to get through the corner. This was probably the coolest part of the whole trip.
The other thing that surprised me is that no one tried to race me except one WRX. He got really mad and sped off when he realized I didn't want to waste the gas on him.
The only bummer is that I don't have a digital camera, so no pics (yet). I snagged a few on my cell phone camera, but I haven't downloaded them to my computer yet.
Whew that was longer than I thought. I think I'll go out for a drive now.

Mine was broken in nice and hard. Alder lake run at 450 miles. 15 minutes of twisties at 4-7K rpm.

As I understand it, they will see the tax I paid in Cali, and I will pay any extra required by Washington. I think they just collect the tax money back from Cali.

I still need to work on my shifting, though. The grab is a lot different than my old car.
