im bored

i found out today after work appx 6pm start do paint my 5th rim from my IX and test and look like.. i like it so far and ill do my 4 rims whole this weekend.

what u think? im just use for winter.. then Spring im order new 18 X 9.5 Volks CeN28 or something...

i use sand, prime, base black coats and Clear coats...



Sand and Primed 2 coats


Base coats (black) 3 coats

Looks really nice, I would have perhaps sanded, or wet sanded between each coats as i got closer to clear. even wet sanding clear with 1500 grit or so.

looks really nice though. Good job.

Dude i know.. Im Automotive collision tech.. im painter prepper and back up painter also im owner hot rod business..
i just want see how it look so far.. and ill do it my 4 rims with wet sand on top surface and buff it

how well do you think the paint will hold up though, and what about when they mount the tires on it?... I could see the paint wanting to peel/chip very easily.

no u have to spec before plans to do a rims.. I do my way like i prep and paint cars (that where i work at collision shop)

prep right and sand and get some paint to stick.. and clearcoat.. and it come look better..

i use speical Clear Coat that use in all Factory and OEM use Clearcoat on rims.. like ur OEM Evo Rims it have Clear coat.. not Powercoats..

FYI!!! this is TEMP Rims for DA WInter!! and im get New Volks! dont worry.

well i cant guratee it.. but im going do this saturday or Friday and rendy see and test how rim handle with Paints.. so ill let u know ya..
