Turbo upgrade

I'm considering buying the JDM Mitsu 20g turbo rated at 450 hp. Anyone else have this turbo or consider it a good investment? Or should I wait a while (and I mean a while) and get a garrett turbo?

I think your best bet would be to buy a used IX turbo from a member on here.

Thing is Jeff, I'm not looking for a regular IX turbo, the fact you suggested that I buy a used IX turbo from someone here kinda.. threw me for a loop its almost like telling me to buy the IX rims vs the VIII without going to a better option. The 20g turbo'd evo isn't available in the US.. that version goes like almost twice as much in England as a GSR there.

Wait and buy a garrett turbo, it'll be worth it.

Do what you will Seph. I was only being realistic. You can find a practically brand new IX turbo on here for cheap. Bolt it right in, flash, and go.

Unless you're going for that "I want something you can't get here and have it shipped over from england" mod.

I would wait, and build my engine that way you'll have the supporting mods for when you want to do a big turbo upgrade.

Gains aren't worth it...its just like an 05 VIII Turbo going to the TME turbo...yes its an upgrade, yes there are gains...but not much. If your going to change out & re-tune might as well go for something that has much better gains in the long run (WR comes to mind if your a circuit person).

I think he's driving an 03/04 model with the 9.8 hotside. If he went to the IX turbo from that he would see some significant gains. Of course they won't be as much as a WR or something equivilant, but they would be significant ,especially for the price.

(Prices from For Sale threads on EvoM)
Sold VIII Turbo +$300
Buy IX Turbo = - $500

Total = -$200

$200 turbo upgrade for gains of 30whp+.

Not worth it? Please.

You guys don't get the 8.5MR version turbo, which has a 10.5 hotside but slightly smaller housing compared with the IX.

Actually does anyone know the current pricing of the popular bolt on turbos? I've been searching but can't find the Buscher's new turbo pricing.

Are you talking about the same 20g as 4tun8 runs? the "REAL" 20g? Because if so i would go for it, 4tun8 has some very impressive numbers for his level of modification; and showed HUGE gains for just simply adding this turbo, i think he said ha got 80 whp just from the turbo upgrade...
