PR Oct 14 Lapping with Alfa Club - Anyone going?
Just wondering if anyone is going to this. I'm planning on it if they let my Utah track experience wave the required driving course.
Has anyone here ran at PR in the rain? I have a feeling that mid October could be rainy. I'm sort of up in the air about what to do in the rain. My Stock Advans are pretty much slicks, I've got some Conti Extreme Contact All Seasons and a set of well used RA-1's that are absolutely slick.
I guess I would go out on my Conti's and if it rains just suck it up and run those. But the sidewalls are crap and they feel like driving on big sponges. I would guess that the RA-1 slicks in the rain would be pretty sketchy. I wish I had some good street tires with tread on them - but I don't.
Anyone got some input? Anyone going?

Wouldn't worry to much about the tires, anything with tread on it should work.
When the rain starts people either slow down or get pulled out. You will see cars off nearly any corner. If it is wet let off a little on your rear sway bar if you can.
I don't care for the rain, but people say it is good practice. I followed one of the lead instructors drift around the entire track in the rain. He didn't think much of the tires. His little rx7 just couldn't catch. I guess that is fun, as long as you start out knowing its slick.
Pray for clear skies!

Of course I don't want it to rain, but I'm just trying to prepare myself for a "weather" crap-sandwich. I still haven't heard from the Alpha Club... maybe I should call.

I will be there. The Alfa days are my favorite events, you can take passengers, and they provide transponders - I am hoping to beat my 1:39 if there is no rain
If it rains, your street tires are the best choice. If you have decent RA-1's then they will work better in all but standing water.
The Conti's should be fine. Turn in might not be the best, but you will be going slow enough that it should be ok, and a few extra LBS of air will help as well.
Hit me up if you need pre track day tire work

What mods did you have when hitting that 1:39? So far that is my best time as well on the stock turbo.

I've been trading emails with the event organizer. Still hoping to get in. Just had my safety gear shipped up so I'm ready to go. Hopfully it won't rain. I'm running my street tires for this event (RT615's). They don't like rain
Very nice, awesome time for that combo.
