So, I get done with my head stud, valve spring, retainer and cam install and start the car. Car sounds so damn smooth its retarded. Not a single lifter tap just smooth operation. Well when you have the car running and you tap the throttle ever so lightly it sounds like something is rattling around in the valve train. So now my mind is boggled, im just like wtf is going on here. So i take the valve cover off and spin the crank a few times looking to see if there is anything strange happening in there. Everything looks great, WTF IS GOING ON. Get it all back together and say maybe something was loose. Start the car the noise is still going. At this point im pissed. I do awesome work and im just thinking why is this happening to my car of all cars lmao. Well my buddy and I get the stethascope (sp?) and start listening around. Turns out the damn pcv valve is causing all of the ruckus. Disconnect the vac line from the pcv valve noise goes away put it back on noise comes back. Im just glad that was the problem. Now my other problem. Did a damn compression test. results. 180 180 170 180. Hate that 10 psi difference. Its killing me as a matter of fact. So i do itover and over again just trying to get it to come up. Before my head installation i had 180 175 180 180. Well. I dropped a little oil in the damn cyl and what do you know. bumps number 3 to 180. I called matt at TF and asked him what he thinks. I still need to redo the compression test to see if the compression numbers came back up. Matt said that the cyl could have been a little dry. I know that I couldnt have worn a ring kinda retarded. I know im not pushing oil or coolant. No smoke from the exhaust. No sweet smell, no oil in coolant or vice versa, coolant system is staying full. I am going to redo my compression test again today and then do a coolant system pressure test then a leak down test. I know that everything is sealed properly. If the compression test goes as planned (good) then my car will be ready to go :-D. The service limit is 14 psi from cyl to cyl, i have 10 psi. The gauge i have actually goes from 170, then has a 175 tick then goes to 180. I would like it if it was more like 170 with ticks all the way to 180 so that i can have a more precise reading. I think that I am probably over reacting on my car haha. Retorqued the damn head studs and they are on there tight nothing is leaking from those not a chance. I know the valves have to be good. well atleast they were good. Mitsu lapped my new exhaust valves when they replaced the head under warranty. Hell they did both sides. It is possible that one of them isnt seating properly. That will **** me off :-D. I will just have to pull the head again and relap the valves, oh well. I should have done that in the first place but I trusted the "professional techs" at mitsu. This is the worst part of my install. Keep in mind that the "professional techs" at mitsu are the last guys to touch my car. I get to the timing belt (removal step) I put the car to tdc. what do you know the exhaust cam is one tooth off. not only that but wow the belt is loose as hell, im just like you have got to be kidding me, i couldnt even believe what I was seeing. Ill tell you now that the tensioner is good to go no issues there didnt make a bit of sense to me how they could have missed this. I was I rate. Anyways, ill post a video of my car here soon. Sorry for the rant, just glad that I found the rattling noise and I do expect that my compression numbers will be more accurate today when i do a compression test. Peace out guys.

Well I've ordered a set of s1 cams, and going to get nisei LICP soon, so it'll be interesting to see
I believe I am currently running weak 280whp or so(I turned down the boost for the winter...got it tuned at TF as well and was getting 300whp exactly)
hopefull with cams and licp and jestr tune I can get it dialed around 350-370 range...

I've made appointment w/ lucas to get it all ready for the tune! Looking forward to it!

think all I need are some plugs.

anyone else going to be down friday night?(dsmawdturbo?)
wouldn't mind having my car go through a once-over just incase I need to do some wrenching early saturday, but she feels real good. idling has been an issue with the new cams, but I know they just need dialed in.

Sandm Ive been tossing around wether or not to go on friday night but im considering it. I want to get the car down there. My car is running way to much fuel haha. I have 780s on the car with the stock map. I think thats where my low compression in cyl3 came from too much fuel drying the cyl up. Im waiting on a safe tune to come in right now. PLus my gas mileage omg. haha 8 MPG :-D whoot. car sounds rediculous though

we got a local hotel that supposedly has underground monitored parking for $80/night, so we are coming down friday night and staying until sunday. hoping to be in around 7pm, but have to REALLY watch the speed in oregon. I don't need a $180 ticket.
if you decide to come in friday, pm and I'll tell ya where I'm staying.
bringing the wifey, and she isn't much down for this type of stuff, but oh well.
tried to leave her, but she hasn't left town in a while, so she is insisting on coming...

Im trying to figure out if there is anything I want to add to the car before the tune. Problem is I dont want to put in a turbo, because I love the response of the stock turbo.
Currently have 264/272 cams, exhaust, fuel pump + rail, and I think thats it. So what to do next... 10.5 hotside? FMIC (Dont think this is worth it though based on the fact I am using the stock turbo and the efficiency of the stock FMIC is more then enough for the stock turbo), Air Intake is out of the question as it does more harm then good, dont want meth/alky injection. Hrm.. cant figure it out. Anyone else been at this point and figured out a good upgrade without going for the new turbo?

10.5 hotside would be my next choice, but so would an i/c with the associated piping. nothing like taking a few feet out of the intake path to the throttle body
the hpf stuff fits nice and looks good.

Intake dosnt do more harm than good when its tuned properly. And a 10.5 would be a great addition but so would a FP Evo green (stock like spool) Great turbo.
