Widband Gauge recommendation????

I have been looking into getting a Wideband setup, and was wanting some input on different brands etc. I have been looking at the AEM UEGO, Ziektronics, and Innovative. I like the Zeiktronics set up with the 52mm gauge but it isn't released yet. I have heard that the AEM's aren't that great because they can't read low AFR's. I am leaning towards the Innovative x-16 kit right now, but it is a bit pricey, but have no problem paying it if they are good kits. I just want some feedback, and personal experiences from people in this area. Thanks

You can't go wrong with any one of those. The AEM UEGO gauge only reads to 10:1 AFR but that's also the limit on most dynos. For most people, if it stays pegged at 10:1, it means lean out the fuel and nothing else. It's the 10:1-14:1 you want accurate and the AEM does that by being accurate to 0.1 ratio.

The Zeitronix and Innovative units are most people with people that do a lot of logging on their cars. You can log AFR with the AEM UEGO only if you're running an AEM EMS if I'm not mistaken.

I was reading a bit on the AEM and I may be wrong, but I thought that I read that you could make your own serial cable/connector that would run to the laptop, cause it does have a serial output wire.... I may be going with the AEM cause it seems pretty dummy proof....

The AEM UEGO is dummy proof. Install the sensor, run the wires, install gauge in pod and you're good to go.

There is a nicely used Innovative set up with a pod gauge up for sale in the private/engine section as well. The seller is letting it go for $300 shipped.

Id reccomend the PLX wideband, you can get them with a gauge also.

I looked at the PLX also, I did like that fact that you could replace your stock primary sensor with it, and it has a self generated narrowband input for the ecu, but didn't like the whole 20 ohm resistor trick for the heater circuit, cause it will tend to get pretty hot, and I don't wanna risk melting/shorting out something that close to the ecu. Have you had experience hooking up the wideband sensor in place of the stock primary, and doing the resistor trick?

Nope the gauge supports outputing AFRs over a serial connection. So you don't need an EMS to log with it .

The old AEM UEGOs didn't read below 11.0 I believe so this is where the talk of them not reading low came from.

ck you have a bunch of choices there so do whatever works for you best. At the time when I went with the UEGO it was the only one that would in a 52 mm gauge pod. I don't have lots of real-estate in my car and I didn't want to do all the cool custom mounts that people have done on this site.

Innovative XD-16 Kit
Been very happy with mine. A bit pricey, but you get an excellent product. Kit comes with everything you need, plus their web site offers awesome support. Check out the pic, 14.7 A/F at idle, right on the money
