PCA Track Day May 24th
Not plannin on that one, but I'm gonna try to make the Lotus day on the 25th.
PCA day run poorly
This was not a well run track day, IMO. We had a hard stop at 4:00 so we should have started on time. if drivers weren't on time screw em. They had 26 cars in intermediate which is recoculous on a track less then 2 miles long. We never had more then 25 on track at tracks in Texas that were over 3 miles long.
The instructor group had more issues then I have ever seen. They had the most black flags and almost wrecks on the day. A few of them were yelling at each other after a session. Also, letting instructors drive student's cars is a bad idea, IMO. A good instructor can teach without driving a student's car. I have been to over 12 track days and never has an instructor asked or needed to drive my car.
Since we had 26 cars in our run group I got about 1 1/2 free laps a session, except the last session where they mixed novice and intermediate together...
So now we had the two largest groups on track at the same time. It was about 40 cars. I drove 2 laps, pitted, packed up and left. They knew they would need to put both groups on track at the end before the day started and still allowed 30 cars in novice and intermediate. They should have skipped the instructor group and let us run separately as we were paying...whatever.
The weather was awesome. The evo performed very well. The RA1s are starting to get really sticky. I think I need to do something about my front brakes though. They are getting extremely hot especially on passengers side front. I think the turbo heat is really getting into the brakes. So I think some 2 piece rotors and brake ducts are next.
I had this plan to do some filming and I did, but it didn't work well. I am going to have to try again. I only had about 3 free laps all day, but my buddy filming said I was around the 1:30 mark. Stock engine, 25mm sway, stock IX suspension, RA1s.
I don't think I will be doing another PCA day. The ones in Texas were run very well. This one...not so much.
