Thumbs down Evo owners beware !

Beware of Walker Mitsubishi/Subaru in Renton . They will try to put the blame on you on any warranty repair issues you have with the Evo. I had them take a look at mine cus I was getting a grind shifting from 4th to 5th at higher rpms. If you searched the Evo section, you will know that this is a fairly common complaint, but Walker tried to blame it on "power shifting" and such and threatened me with a $1600 bill before they even looked into it. Now, I heard that they even reported me to MMA after reportedly seeing me at a dragstrip. (doesn't matter that I've had the problem way before hitting the dragstrip)
Now I bought an Evo to experience the thrill of everything the Evo has to offer like lots of power and superb handling. I don't try to push the car to it's limits and do not consider a few good burst of speed and cornering to be abusive... after all, we didn't buy the Evo to haul groceries and drive like grandmas.
So, I am warning all current Evo owners (and future owners) to avoid Walker Mitsubishi. Have your service/repair done at another dealer (I recommend Bellevue Mitsu) and to be aware that they will report you if they see your Evo at a dragstrip, autocross or just about any event that demands you to drive the car "beyond normal driving conditions".

That really sucks man. Seems that "taking care of the customer" has no place in the automotive world nowadays .. if it was a clutch issue or you messed up 1st or 2nd launching, I could see them giving ya crap. But, you are having issues from 4th->5th .. which I don't think you could fk up easily. Thats something that is a defect to begin with IMO.

Sorry to hear it ... hope ya get er fixed.

walker is a piece of ****, their sticker price is like 13k above msrp.... i would never go to that dealership, when i got my car, walker had the only blue by you in washington, but i got my car from seattle mitsu, they traded their white one to a blue one that walker had.. i dont understand why dealerships are so stupid...they dont even have to pay for the parts right? mitsubishi pays for that..
they have nothing to loose, and their job is to make customers happy and satified..
this is so funny that they will report to whoever about us hittin drag strip, or autox, if they are being a dick about us driving the car fast or using its potential power, why bring the car over here the first place...
oh well..i still love my car, but i miss my honda more and more

And what kind of dealer patrols drag strips? That's pretty odd.

Man that is really too bad. I cant believe that they tried to pin everything on you. Dealers should respect you and your car, but i know that is an unlikely thing these days. As for your recomendation of Bellevue Mitsubishi, i agree. I just recently purchased an Evolution VIII from them and they have been a great help and very kind(believe it or not!). They also hooked me up with a great deal

pays the dealer wholesale rates, which is much less than what we pay from our pockets. so yeah, it's to their advantage (and profit) to have them fix it outside the warranty.

I was talking to the service manager at my dealership today, and I was telling him about this situation.

He said "They sold that guy a sportscar, and now they won't service it? He bought an EVO not a Montero". Don't worry, if anything goes wrong I will go to bat for you".

If anyone in the Chicago area has any problems w/ their service departments try Larry Roesch in Orland Park. The guys in the service dept. are pretty cool.

Well, i went to bellevue mitsu a month or so before i bought my evo, and there was this guy that did talk out of his ***, he was totally full of ****. but then i went back just recently and i talked with someone different who was a huge help, and got me a great deal. I guess it just depends on who you talk to.

straight out of someone that works at Mitsu (who will remain anonymous)... Walker sends someone to the racetrack to write down newer Mitsu and Subaru plates during import drag events in an effort to void their warranty. pass the word around and also, if anyone posts on the wrx/sti boards, let them know what's up. this practice is so lame. Walker, you SUCK !!
