well finally made to the track!

well i finally took my car to the dragstrip for the second time in its life. the track was nice and laid out OK but i couldn't make it out of the 13's. it rained earlier in the day and for some reason i just couldn't get traction or the clutch not to slip. the car is a 06 evo IX RS, right now its putting about 380 whp and around that for tq, i at the moment am still running stock clutch. i put the 2-step at 5500 at first and couldn't get traction, then after each run i keep lowering it until i had it at 3500 and still burnt all 4 tires, 1st-2nd . i was really hoping to get around a 12.2 or 12.3 run if not faster. i plan on doing some runs today using my g-meter since i'm not to worried about the clutch, i'll be getting a new one shortly, and i'll post the results.

thats what i plan on doing. i think there was a LITTLE drivers error there too but still i should have pulled off 12.8 atleast, i dont know. i was still trapping 106, 107 with all the wheel spin. hopfully a new clutch will help.

Yeah I have an 05 with bolt ons, and I was running consistant mid 13's trapping 106... out of 5 runs I only smoked the stock clutch a little on one run hitting the 5500 limiter each time. Which clutch are you guys running here in the NW? I can't see myself dropping $1500 on an exedy twin....

380whp and only trapping ~107 tells me something isn't correct.

I don't think it's your tires that are spinning....It's your clutch !!

Er, I suspect a lazy launch or a slipping clutch. I was hitting 105mph traps with just a flash. Albiet I launch like a sissy at 2500rpms! I really don't feel like banging on my clutch, that is all.

well i couldn't go out today seeing that lovely WA weather was raining as usual. the clutch was slipping, mainly in the begining of first then the tires would spin and then second would spin, then third would slip the clutch a little around 3k, i think b/c of how hot it was, and the 60ft were 2.1-2.2. i was spining or slipping through the 60ft. I def. am not a pro at launching the car but clutch slip would lock the tires if you were to feather and it contacted at the right rpm. dustin remember what happened the first time you talked trash and the second, any time you want to come get some of the white monster come see me, you know were i live. lol. anyways i messed with anthony's car on the highway and him running 30psi to my 26psi, you could def. tell were his cams helped b/c i would jump him on spool up but he would start creeping at the top end; his car is fast and he would slowly creep away on me at full WOT through the gears, but not to bad with stock turbo and cams keeping close to anthony's car. i should have babied in to 1st just to see were my traps were, b/c my first run i missed third and still hit 104 trap speed so the clutch had to be slipping in the runs there after. i dont know, i'm just gonna get a new clutch and flywheel and go back out to the track and see how it does, plus i'll be able to launch the car a little before i go to get a better feel for it.

hey dustin i had less power than you the last 2 times; its not from evoscan either, i think chewy is right that your slow, i think when you need to make a trip to whidbey, so you can make excuses of why you got smoked, lol. and if it happens im gonna post it with a video of the race so everyone can bash you! lol. I think outlaws right we just dont know how to drive, i mean who doesn't blow out their clutch in 3k with the stock hp/tq? you know he is a pro.lol.

anyways i was gonna do some runs using my g-meter and i line up on a road and eased into first really quick and strong it out to see were the trap speed was, and next thing i know POP!! it sounded like a f###ing gun shot, my up pipe coupler blew off and the ecu pulled timing and it back fired. scared the **** out of me, it does everytime its done it. so im gonna wait till this weekend and do some runs after i change my oil.
