What English Racing is and who we are

Well most of you know who we are now, but this is for those who don't. I made a post like this about 1.5years ago but it was erased in a few hours because I was not a vendor.

I feel we are a shop like non other. This business started for me about 4 years ago without me even knowing I was starting a business. I race at least 3 weekends a month when the track is open. I started racing my Talon, wifes GVR4, wifes red Talon, and my Cummins powered Chev we built, and I met all my local customers at the track. I learned everything the hard way on my own Talon then started helping others with theirs. I started out of my house, and worked out of my 2 car garage for almost 2 years before I bought my shop out in Camas, Wa. I knew from the start in order to make myself happy I wanted to keep my overhead low which would keep my rates reasonable. I feel I still do this and plan on keeping this through the years.

As many of you know, my shop looks like hell, and the 1st time you are there you're probably scared to leave your Evo there. I hope for this to change in the next few years, but I am slowly going through the permit process which I hope to be approved in the next few months.

Once approved I will do an addition that will include living quarters, and since I am in the country I can live there legally. This is in my grand plan of being able to live nice and have the toys that help us know what we know and keep my shop rates at a normal person's level.

I come from the DSM roots of fast with the least amount of $$$, and I try to bring this to my customers. I mean stuff that works, not trying to cut corners. Example is a lot of shops may try to sell you a AEM EMS for your stock turbo car. I am not even going to talk about one until your goal is over 500whp. Nothing makes me feel better then when I am at the track and my cars we built are punking off cars with twice the work and $$.

I feel the key to a shop is not the name but who works for the shop. I value my 2 employees very much. Without them I would be nowhere. Due to our good rates we move a lot of cars at an average of 5 per week with 1-2 of them being Evos. My guys are extremely fast at the Evos and DSMs which lets me keep the rates right and the work good. TJ has been with me since the house and Jake has been with me almost 2 years.

I see so many shops and vendors seeming like they have to blitz the forums trying to prove why they are cool. To me this looks very desperate and shows they are hurting and trying everything in their power to get your $$$. It's like they want your $$$ so bad that you don't even know if you can believe the words coming out of there mouth.

It may seem like my guys are blitzing the forums, but that is because of the service I give. Over the last 4 years I have not had one single DSM or Evo customer leave me, and for the few who we have had problems with I bend over backwards to make it right. I am here to make people happy and I will keep doing what it takes to make that happen.

My business has grown a little faster than I hoped for, but I guess that's ok . I was hoping to have my shop more setup by now but the time and $$$ to do it right without help takes time. My goal is within 10 years to have my setup paid off and keeping life simple.

If you ever have any questions about if a mod is right for your setup I will love to talk about it and tell you if it is or not. I am here to make your cars fast within your budget to keep you happy. I am not here to sell you crap that you don't need.

I do sell parts to my customers but really don't like selling them outright due to all the price shopping and having to work so hard to make only a few $$. At my shop I answer all emails and phone calls and do all the tuning. TJ is my motor and transmission guy, and Jake is my main tech who has over 10 years at a normal shop working on everything. So if there is any questions I have about other normal cars he is my go-to guy.

Non of us are ASE certfied and we have learned everything on our own cars. From extreme rock crawlers to diesel performance both of my guys are die hard motor guys.

I am only 28 and plan for this to be my life until the day I die, and so far life is going good for team English Racing.

Part of the reason for this post is I feel some vendors on here feel threatened by me which I don't understand. I am a hillbilly kid in Camas, Wa that only works on 4Gs in the NW and have no desire to have cars shipped to me or to do work out of the NW. I don't prefer to have customers who are far away. I like knowing I can help someone if they have problems and when they are far away I don't feel I can help them like I want to. Of course, this could change when the shop is how I want, but for now I like keeping my business local.

Yup. While I have not yet worked with Lucas, but when non warranty issues arise, he'll definately be getting my money... quotes like this sound right out of my mouth..... "I mean stuff that works, not trying to cut corners. Example is a lot of shops may try to sell you a AEM EMS for your stock turbo car. "

I can't wait to give you guys a call!

I've been trying extremely hard to work with of the more reputable shops in my area (Seattle/Kent) throwing them at this point over $2k, and I feel like I've been robbed. It's extremely hard to find a good shop or mechanic that stands behind their work.

+1 for Lucas also
I drove from 45 min north of seattle down to his shop to have him work on my Evo. Well worth the hours of driving.
