Primitive Rally School... an intro to Rally Driving
Hey all,
Just wanted to remind you that Primitive Performance Driving is going on its 4th year in the Pacific North West and the new season of Rally Schools starts March 28th - 30th in Hillsboro, Oregon.
Cost is roughly $300 bucks for 3 Days if Instruction and Competition sitting along side some of the best Rally Competitors and Instructors the West Coast has to offer.
Bring your car or rent a stage Prepped full Rally Car as the course is presented on a large 15 acre grass field with traffic cones as the only real impact hazzard. Think AutoCross in the Dirt.
It's a TON of fun and I guarantee you will come away with a new level of car control on ANY surface condition.
For more information you can check out the Schools Flyer at:

Or PM me for details.
I would LOVE to see some EVOs at the School. I'm getting tired of being the only DSM out there.

OMG! I am so there! What is the condition of said grass area. My main concern is ground clearance and undercarriage of the car. And how set up does the car need to be? Thanks! And see you there!

I have been interested in doing the co driver class, depending on how things turn out, you want to roll down there together?
That sounds awesome! All I really need to figure out what needs to be done car wise. I would prefer not to rent a car. But let's keep in touch either here or the other forum as to what's going on.

The field is large and wide open. We have been using the same field for the past 6 or 7 years for Rally Cross events and the Schools so places are kinda roughed up a bit.
Having said that, we groom the field at the end of each year with tractors and reseed. We also walk the entire field for each school and specifically keep the rougher parts of the field blocked off for lower cars.
To put things in perspective, we routinely have a lowered Chevell, Low slung VWs and Gen 1 - 3 eclipse/talons run through the school. We have also had our share of Evos take the school with no ill effects.
About the worse that happens is rolling a tire off te rim if you let your air pressure down to much.
It's pretty darn safe.
Street setup is fine for the School. If you are planning on going home with a trophy... then, well.. you'll have to beat me and a couple of the other instructors for that. LOL!
Seriously, don't worry about setup. Our goal in the Primitive School is to teach you to drive the car you have. Our Advanced Schools get deeper into setup and other techniques as well as dodging trees at high speed.
It is an AWSOME school with tons of great information, instructors and m ore seat time that you will admit to turning down. If you aren't TIRED of driving by the end of the School... well.... then you are a freak of nature.
What VoidHawk had to say:
"Hey - what fun is owning a race car when all you ever do with it is driving down the street doing the speed limit ? I had no issues with ground clearance, since my MR is still stock height.
Getting it clean again wasn't too bad, we went through a "touchless" car wash right after the event, before the mud had time to get hard. It was one of those places where the car goes on a conveyor belt thing, but they have people with high pressure water guns to clean it. The guy at the car wash did a serious double-take when he saw us pulling in . I gave him an extra $10, and they took their time to thouroghly hose it down. Back home I took the matts out and stuffed them in the washing machine (woollite, gentle cycle), wiped down the door jambs, and it's all good again. Later this week I'll get an exterior detail, and it should be cleaner than it was before ."
