Well Chris as you probably know the base KW3's have pretty soft springrates (ie softer in the rear than front, not optimal for the Evo but work). Also they do not have the valving to be able to control 8k or 10k springs. I know on Robi streets which are 7kF and 8kR he has them revalved. Going higher required a different digressive valve to control those type of springrates and provide proper damping characteristics (which this is called Robi's Clubsport).

The PIC's have good valving and their 8kF and 10kR ride real well. They are really popular with the Mid-East guys. Both Stance or PIC cost around $1300. Bob at Drift Office are a Stance dealer and said they could work some good pricing for Evo owners and the install cost they told me was almost unbelievable. Stance is really popular with all the 240 and Silvia guys. They also do revalving and rebuilds in the US and the struts themselves are probably some of the beefiest I have ever seen.

I think that the Tein flex set up is prety nice. You can get them for around 1400. The only thing about the megans, is that they dont have any rust protection on them. And we all know how much it rains up here

I would opt for the GR+. That is their most popular series and what most people run on the Evo's. The monoflex are good too...can be a little harsh. Just depends on where you drive I guess. I am picky when it comes to how the car rides even being in an Evo. Be nice when I can afford Ohlins.

Honestly the spring rates for most of the "soft" coilovers will work fine for what the majority of this forum will do. The uber hard "Race" spring rates are for the people on this forum who really go out there and push their cars lapping.

For DD/occasional auto x/occasional lapping day its going to be overkill.

Well mainly it's not the soft springs I was referring too but mostly the front and rear spring rates. I have seen many times where sticking most off the shelf coilovers that are stiffer springs in front and softer in back just make the evo plow and understeer quite a bit. There is definately a reason why the stock evo has stiffer in the rear (and it still understeers to some extent). It can be fixed by sticking an uber stiff swaybar on the back but sometimes that just hides handling woes. I agree with you though that most people on here don't have enough driving experience to ever tell or be able to tell the difference. I just believe if you do it right the first time it will help you learn quicker. Everyone drives differently and like stiffer or softer springrates. I prefer medium springrates with supurb damping characteristics. Robi will tell you some of the fastest cars around dont run stiffer than 9k springs.
