Must be nice. My dealership is not willing to help. They told me they need a identical car to compare mine to as well as a db meter.

This is why I like my RRE stealth exhaust that has a factory size muffler and a stock tip. Been pulled over several times for no front plate, but no one has ever said a peep about my exhaust (even in the last year when its gotten a bit louder, probably because the packing is degrading).

I live in Lacey but it was WSP that gave me my ticket for exhaust being too loud. Does that even matter?

Just got a fix it ticket for modified exhaust! And i'm super excited about it!! But the thing that makes me really excited is the 10mph over that it attached to it, 35 in a 25, which is Bull**** because I was only doing 30mph because I saw him behind me. So if I don't fix the exhaust it becomes a ticket for modified exhaust and a ticket for 10 over, how crappy is that?? Thinking about putting a stock looking muffler on and going to the police station and telling them it's back to OEM spec, throw it on the lift if you want to!!! Get a life Bellingham PD. Did I mention I'm super excited about all of this?

My exhaust ticket was from California Highway Patrol...they suck *****. I took the ticket into the local police dept in lacey and told them I had fixed it. They signed off on my ticket and I mailed it back to California. Any police officer can write off that ticket Im pretty sure. Do you happen to have the stock cat/exhaust to throw back on for a day?

I have to ask, what constitutes a modified exhaust to them? I mean, I could blow a hole in a muffler and go to meineke and get a new muffler and my exhaust will be "modified". I can write on a muffler and its "modified". A rock and dent the exhaust tip and its "modified".

Yes, that is a modified exhaust according to the loosely worded law.

the question remains, how much extra power could one gain from said rock-dented-exhaust-tip mod? Theoretically speaking of course. I gots money burning a hole in me pocket!

If that's the case that's pretty incredible. If someone's exhaust falls off for whatever reason and they go to the local Meineke shop and get a new one put on, they are running illegal. The only option is to get the exhaust directly OEM? man... lol

@jaybird, were you just driving, or driving aggressively, going WOT, etc.? Is that the only infraction you received?

Didn't want to start a new topic when I know this one existed.

Got another modified exhaust ticket on my Evo today, about 15 minutes ago actually.

First one, I put a silencer on it, got it reduced and switched out the exhaust to a quieter Tanabe from a Expelir JGT 500.

I just recently put that exhaust back on this summer.

But just a moment ago, I got pulled over for it again.

What happened was I was on I-5 N, cruising at about 65, jumped into my exit lane, at exit 176, and saw a patrol car way ahead of me and I slowed down to 60. Just before the exit sign, he swerved over and got in the exit lane and jumped off the exit. It was a two lane exit and he was on the left and I was on the right with a car in front of me at a light. He got behind me and when I took a right to get in my neighborhood, not even a minute off the highway, he pulled me over and ticketed me for a modified exhaust ticket.

I think he only pulled me over because of my yellow fog lights. I'm sure he assumed, "Looks like an import car, probably has a exhaust on it, I'll pull him over."

I want to contest this ticket because, I feel like this is definitely profiling. I doubt he would have slow down and swerve into the exit if my car didn't have the yellow fog lights on.

What do you guys think? All my friends thought this was messed up and the car in front of me at the light was my cousin with a passenger who both witnessed everything.

I'm posting this to hear what other people have to say and also to vent a bit. I know I'm guilty here, as my second offense I should know better, I don't have a problem coming to terms with that. Just upset about the whole situation and the exhaust sounds great! I'd hate to part with it again.

Also, another part that sucks is that the neighborhood the officer decided to pull me over at, is also where I lived. I was literally pulled over in front of my home.
