I'm running E85, Chris!

More E85 close to us would be cool though

Unlikely to happen. Because a thing has been suggested to happen doesnt mean that it will happen. I would think that with the various lobbies for green fuels, the farmers that can profit, the producers and transporters of the product, there is enough money floating around to encourage votes to keep things to the status quo.

It is currently just talk, its way to early to worry about anything at this point. It is More likely that ethanol will be switched from corn based to another form of ethanol rather then going away completely.

More ethanol is a good thing, but the current process for making ethanol (deriving it from foodstock, mostly corn) is horrible in terms of energy and pollution. It takes more energy to produce a gallon of E85 than is *in* the E85 itself, and because it is a byproduct of food, there's a great deal of air and water pollution being created in the process.

I realize the turbo guys like it because it's cheaper than high octane gas, but for a mainstream fuel it is untenable.

^^^which still boggles my mind re: how cheap it is. Like someone else said, I would expect the price to go up eventually, unless they come up with another process.

It's cheap because it's paid for with tax dollars. The actual cost of corn ethanol is much higher than even 100 octane race gas.

Yep - subsidized. I just didn't expect for the price to continue to drop, especially for this long. I wish it would come further North, like Lynnwood, Everett, Redmond, or Monroe!
