need to clear code

so i've been driving arround with a check engine light for 6 months because my rear 02 sensor died....

i finally replaced it but my check engine light is still up.......

is there anybody near port orchard / bremerton who has a box that can clear that for me......

just disconnect and reconnect the neg battery cable, that will reset the code

nice.......im used to VWs where you have to reset it with a computer

i'm assuming it worked? becuase sometimes the ecu stores codes and you do have to get em cleared

i actually don't know yet, as i havent started my car since....... will post again in a couple hours

Kaymin is correct. The Service Engine Soon light will go away, however, the code will still be stored within the ECU. Just go to an Advanced Auto Parts or Autozone, etc. and clear the code for free. You can also read any other codes that may be present.

ohh....thats important information to me cuz i'm getting ready to bring it in for warantee service.....

the exhaust in the past was the ONLY thing thats ever been not stock on the car..........but they hosed the original O2 sensor during the "upgrade"......i put a stock exhaust back on when i first got the car and this new 02 more reciently....

i've heard that our local dealership has denied warantee stuff for having aftermarket TIRES becuase it "indicates racing" even if the car is stock otherwise

i don't want to give these guys any excuse to screw me......


thanks for the tip becuase i would have seen the light go away and thought i was good
