Man, best lap was a 1:32.00 with 35 cars in our group. It was a huge turnout, I had massive brake problems again. Our first session was the only decient run I had. It got red flagged for an ambulance crossing to the dirt bike track, so we only got about 10 laps in and it took about 8 until 10seccivic and I broke away and got to do some open driving. Akisan2 was with us at the start, but didn't make it around the M3 I stuffed for being a jackass.

Second session was red flagged on lap 2 for a massive oilspill. (2 out of 3 Corvettes dumped oil and were never seen from again today.)

I'm done with WORKS 2 piece rotors, I think they're badly warped. Coming off the 2 straights they'd shake the steering wheel so hard, I could feel a knock in the rack and my front wheels were skipping off the ground. I went off in turn 8 over @ 100+ (10seccivic soon will have an epic video available of it, as he was directly behind me with a dash camera ) and slid about 100' thru 9 and 10 into the infield, luckily there was no damage. I took both wheels off, checked all the bolts hoping something was loose. I noticed a small amount of rust color on both rotors with the obvious blue glazing which is usually signs of pad failure. With permission I went out and rebedded the brakes using the access road at the track and it felt better, but it's hard to tell as the road is rough as hell. So next session after the warm up lap, same bat channel, same bat place the brakes go from seeming just a little bit shakey to full oh sh** mode and I went off again with the most epic cloud of sand ever seen. My passenger window was down, and as I looked right to see how far the wall was, I saw the most epic tital wave of sand I could of sworn it was out of a movie.... Of course the passenger window was down, and for a millisecond I saw an entire silhouette of my window made of sand before it blew up all over the inside of the car and all over me. I mean there was a perfect outline of sand on my seat where my crotch was. All in all, I'm ok, the car's ok but there's something badly wrong with the brakes. I drove home, and as soon as I got in the driveway I could see friction spots in places where the pads were rubbing on the 2 hour drive home.

I hate brakes.... Akisan2 and 10seccivic, it's always great to see you guys, and it's a blast running with you guys on the track. Bah, I can't remember the alias for the Evo X owner with team FYC. Hats off to Team FYC (I need to invade your forums!) Always a top notch group representing Fiat!

yikes! What pads were you running? Pad transfer can feel just like warped rotors, happened to me last year at PR, had to cut the day short. Do you ever run PR?

sorry to hear about the drama. can't wait for the video

first easy guess, pads don't match up well with the steel of the rotors, & won't bed right.

unless of course you are using something WORKS suggests.

Yeah our group was jinxed for sure. Our 3rd session was the best and that's where i had my best runs with 10seccivic.
I'm glad you didn't hit anything. I missed your 4th session spun out but you told me you were really close to hitting a wall, yikes.
That m3 was really annoying being front of me on the first session, but on the second session he was behind me and I never saw him after 1st lap so that's good
I believe roninVIII is the name of the evo x owner. Those neon rt4 guys were really awsome guys for sure...they were fast bunch too!
It was an awsome day, I hope to see you on the track again soon!

Sounds like pads got too hot, excessive pad transfer on rotors - death shake.

This was happening on Julians EVO at PR the other day as well.

Problem solution:

1. Must have cooling ducts to get airflow to the rotors.
2. Need to run pads aggressive enough to handle the heat you are putting into the brake system.
3. Need to get the pad material cleaned off your rotors.

Brake issues are uber lame. Glad you/car are OK.

Not yet, I'm a little nervous about PR, I raced bikes there for a few years and the back side of that track kills people. They need to clean out from 5A to 7 so badly it's not funny.

Yeah, I'm never sure of people want real names, so I try to stick to Aliases unless otherwise mentioned

I was, and always have been running Ferodo DS3000's, but I didn't get proper bedding done. I'm tearing it apart now, and it looks like your right. The pads are only 1/2 discolored which tells me they never got fully bedded, but both rotors have 6 even patches of blue tinning between the slots like they were getting a lot hotter then the rest of the disk surface. I think I'm going to take the pads and rotors down to Group2 tomorrow and see what they think happened.

Cooling ducts are going to be my next project I think. I seem to remember you having a DYI thread somewhere on here JID2, I'm gonna have to find that for mounting ideas near the caliper

Never heard the term 'death shake' before, but it obviously suits the sensation right

I just routed plastic tubing for a few years before I built proper parts. Anything is better than nothing.

for what its worth, I always had a hard time getting the F3000 just right. heading down to 3a would more often than not be shimmy.
maybe you should try something different.

I'd say try the Raybestos ST43's. They are doing work for me. My bedding of them was nothing more than the first few laps of mild braking. And now they just get it done with no backtalk.

Just FYI, we ran Hawk Blues and we are quite happy with them.

I had a blast as always being down there watching you guys run! I'm glad you made it out ok Jason. I watched you flying off from the tower and I thought you were done for. LOL.

I'm not sure what's going to happen with TC possibly going to ORP for good or not. But we'll keep coming down to play and have a good time even if it's with another school. See ya guys out there next time!

Well stock rotors with street pads up front the 'death shake' is totally gone. I went out on 599 and rebedded the street pads (DS2500's) and screwed around some I don't think I even knocked it out of alignment, but it goes in tomorrow for that anyway

Just to note, you can really feel the difference between the 2 piece rotors and the cast iron stock ones. The wheel is defenately heavier, and all vibrations are gone. Makes sense, more inertia with heavier rotational mass. I always felt a slight 'something' in the steering wheel ever since I put them on, but I did a good job of convincing myself it was other parts I think. Steering response is definately heavier, and I think it's called the 'moment of inertia' feels later when turning... The engineers can correct me on the term when an mass changes direction.
