Yeah, sounds like the same crap. So I had both front rotors turned on a lathe, and there appears to be some difference in metals now on both front rotors. I'm running Ferodo DS3000's, so I figure I'm going got swap in these rotors on track days, and not have multiple compounds ever come into contact with the rotors and hopefully fix another braking issue.

I instead went with the Forged Performance ducting kit, and mated them to Ferodo DS2500s all around. Even with the ducting, I was getting a bit of fade, so I switched to DTC60s in the front: problem solved. I'm running ~320whp, and 255/40 AD08s.

bottom line, I don't think you'll see significant advantage from going with the guides, at HPDE.
How was the install for that kit? I haven't seen much pictures of it...but from the description I've seen on some sites it seems similiar to the AMS one.

install was not bad. Since it's also my DD: I had to replace the ducting after the end of the first season, as it got pretty torn up. Not a big deal, about $60.

In my experience the 2500s will not hold up to heavy track use, you might want to switch to track pads.

Yup I'm running DTC-60, GTI is running 3000s.

Matches my experience. And overheated DS2500's do tend to transfer unevenly causing big time shuddering. I switched to Pagid RS29, but these did not clean up the rotors enough so I got new 2-piece rotors. Problem $olved.

DS3000's are notorious for pad transfer and uneven deposits..... boo.

I'd run Hawk DTC-60 or Raybestos ST43's for track pads. I love me some ST43's.... After 4 track days they still look nearly new in terms of wear.

That's what's got me so burned, these are on BRAND NEW blanks. How do you prevent the pad transfer? I followed the brake in procedure every time I swap pads for track days.

You're not changing pad compounds though, I think that's where my problem came from.

Pad transfer seems to be a characteristic of certain pads when over heated, some are worse than others. The Ferodo DS3000's seem to be a bad one.

I never had problems with my DS2500's, but I always ran ducting with them and mostly on street tires.

From: somewhere testing various tires, brakes, and suspensions.
I wrote a massive thread on pads/ducts/rotors/etc in the Wheel/Tire Forum. DS2500s are not track pads, MOT of 1000F is pretty easy to run up to on the heavy Evo.

+1. I went from OEM --> HPS+ --> DS2500s ---> DTC60 front / DS2500 rear.

I'm not running high horsepower, or R compounds, either... and I have the Forged ducting kit to keep things cool.

I thought I could get away with the DS2500s as a street/HPDE compromise (especially with the ducting kit), but no dice.

Finally happy with my setup, although it took 4 iterations to get there. No pad transfer, no fade, just strong reliable braking.
