Terrible Speeding ticket luck....
^if the officer doesn't show (in WA, anyway) the case is thrown out. As long as you subpoenaed him to show, anyway.
@MrMeaner - in WA the judge *can* see the other court case and what it is for, if he looks for it. Thankfully, judges don't go digging for the most part.
My wife works in the legal system so I know a lot of judges and I know the system pretty well (much to my chagrin). It doesn't matter if the same officer wrote the infraction, and in fact what matters most is which county the infraction was written in (more work for the judge to find the information == less likely they will look).
edit - btw, the best option is representation. You can represent yourself but you likely don't know the legal system well enough to manipulate it to your needs (play the game, as was stated). Not only do lawyers know the system, they typically have a rapport with the other attorney, judge, etc., and know how to handle themselves in particular situations.

I'm sorry, but everyone saying man up has forgotten this is the United States of f***ing America. Just like congress, and legislature you've all forgotten INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY! Burden is in the hands of the police, not the speeder in this thread. You all own Evos because they're slow *** ill-performing cars. I know 95% of the NW forums do not track their cars even though you're all taking a 'holier than thou' stance on this thread. Seriously, if you don't speed, and go out on windy roads late at night, why did you buy your car? You all need mini vans. Sell your evos instead of modding them for useless power you 'obviously' don't use according to this tread. You're all a bunch of hypocrites. Your poop doesn't stink either.........
You want to talk about speed limits weren't designed with Evo's in mind? What about the 240,000 Lb Tractor trailer you just cut off in heavy traffic, and NOW you're going to stuff those 12.6" Brembos to the floor? That tractor trailer behind you is going to kill you now...

'nuff said, I'm out on this thread

^^^ **Cough cough** red-light tickets.......
Sorry to completely dis-proove your argument. (For the record: I agree with you 100% and think that red light camera's are illegal, but the tax collector knows best)

You can also fight red-light tickets. BTW - you think the wing survived that crash? Holy schnikes!
I've never gotten a red-light ticket but they send you a ticket and you can fight it. If you pay then you are admitting guilt.

It isn't possible to own an EVO (or any other decent car) and not speed from time to time, and that's why none of my posts slap our friend here and I offer as much help as I can.
With that said, we live in North America, and just like in every other country, we are considered the guilty EVO/IL drivers, or else the policeman wouldn't have taken his valuable time to write that ticket...lol. Anyways, the judge can decide guilt even if the policeman doesn't show...they don't always throw it out like they used to, especially if the policeman has sent in his documentation, or at least they don't in Canada...and if the policeman does show, you will be found guilty regardless of your truth, unless you have representation. Our friend here needs our help and good legal representation, as he is actually considered guilty until proven innocent in the eyes of the law in North America...although they would want us to believe otherwise!

^the beauty of WA: you subpoena (request) the officer, the calibration records in the case of smd/pace, etc. and if those aren't present at your court date then it is dropped. Another nice loop is that the officer has so many days to enter/log the citation and if not completed in time (which you can see online) then you can have it thrown out.

We went to Reno recently and visited a courthouse in Virginia City that was established sometime in the 1800's. We visited it just to get a picture of one of the very few "Lady Justice" statues that is not wearing a blindfold!
I guess it was a very controversial statue back in the day and they think only 20 or so were ever made, but they aren't certain. It is kind of funny and shows that justice isn't always biased!

*edit - you are giving good advice too it is just that the legal system is so different from state to state, country to country, etc. I don't think our buddy GT was referring to us.

Interesting legal history. I always believed that there was justice in the legal system...then after watching many court proceedings, I came to the conclusion that it's a 50-50, so you better come prepared. I know our friend didn't mean us...I look forward to any update on the outcome.
Worst state ever I swear right now is AZ! I got a ticket in a rental car going to see my grandma! They have photo ticket stations setup and the staters are everywhere! They also have a lot of red light camaras there too.
They do allow you to defer it if you take an online class which I did and it went away.
Problems they have right now with the ticket camaras and such is serving them to people out of state. They can't just mail them to you because you have reply to it that you got it, if you don't, they can't hold you responsible for it. They don't have enough resources to have someone "serve" you the ticket in other states.
AZ is one of the highest rates in the us for speeding and redlight accidents and the govt has generated a hefty sum sice they brought these news systems out. Not to mention the company that designed them gets a percentage of all tickets that are issued and paid!
I googled a lot of this after I got my ticket there!
I completely disagree with people who say you deserve it! If you wanna be that critical then take a nice look at yourselves! I promise that we all brake some sort of law each day that we did't even know about! Shoot, I'm sure every night when you go to bed with your sister, your breaking a law in some state!

If you haven't had a ticket, get the first one cut in 1/2 because of your clean record and see if the judge will defer the second one. Problem is if you get another ticket in a year, both will go on your record. A least it works in WA, not sure about OR. Either way, GL
If you or anyone is ever in Reno I suggest getting up to Virginia City for a half day if that. It is interesting to think of this city in the mountains in the 1800's that was some 30,000 residents strong back then (about 500 - 1000 residents now), and generated $400 million (non-adjusted) by 1878!
San Francisco was heavily funded by Virginia City, as was the Civil War. Lincoln pushed Nevada into statehood even though the population wasn't large enough. Nevada was economically viable due to the mining, and was also a republican state, which was heavily needed at the time.

You aren't kidding, the speed cameras are ridiculous down there! Huge revenue generating system where a private company is also reaping the benefits (as you said, Rob).
The governor is passing laws left and right that benefit the speed camera system, too. If a loophole is found laws are made to patch the hole.
Of course there is that guy that got 30+ tickets served to him at his work in AZ and he went to court and said they couldn't prove it was him as each and every picture taken was of a man in a monkey mask!
