Yeah. Keep an eye out for Team Continental or Cascade Sports Car Club. I think TC is a great school for starting out. Unless you are baller, you can take Pro Drive which is the equivalent of Proformance here in WA. Hopefully I'll see you out there next year.

Of course you don't have to do this, is just what I think would be best for those starting out with HPDE's. Those of you that have ran both will surely agree with me. I think PR is way more fun but be prepared to chew up tires and brakes hardcore.
I agree in terms of the differences in the tracks but you'll be fine no matter where you start. The positives of starting at Pacific Raceways is that it is a much more technical course which forces you to be a better driver versus just simply going fast. If you can get solid at Pacific, it will make PIR even easier and safer. Sometimes a bigger track gives false confidence to track newbies like me.

Also, the track surface (I hear) is much better at PIR. A buddy of mine is a hardcore track junkie (two seasons ago put 6000+ track miles on his subie - fully built) and is has been a senior instructor for the Porsche and BMW clubs for several years - he actually suggested getting solid at Pacific and then coming down to PIR for those reasons and because its closer to here anyway. Eitherway, hope to see people out there on the 6th and throughout the season next year!

So PR is a more challenging and more technical road course compared to PIR. Not to mention a newly paved and smoother track in Portland. I'm glad we agree on that part. So if that is fact, won't it make more sense to start out with a less challeging and less technical track, so then you can move onto more challenging and more technical tracks as you get comfortable. I don't know about you, but I prefer to learn to walk before I run. But yeah, it doesn't really matter. Just a suggestion. Have fun on your track day with the wifey!

^^ not necessarily a recommendation just its closer and there's trade off's between the two tracks. Know what you're getting into and you'll be fine.

Hey Gama, I would love to, but I'm blowing my EVO budget this month on blizzaks. That and I need to upgrade my brakes before I do a track day. I know I will push my car too hard for the stock brakes and toast them...definitely want a report out on how it goes though. Do they let people watch?

no worries man - yeah, they allow watchers and a guy from NASIOC said he might be there taking pics. Will look into getting a video cam set up for some recording as well. G** I hope I don't suck horribly.

Just an update that the date has officially changed to the next day - SATURDAY November 7th 8-5. I believe we now have enough people signed up to hold the course barring weather. Let's get so more Evo's there!

I just looked at the schedule, I see it's also an open lapping day. I thought I was done for the year, but the car is ready to go so....

Nice!! Look forward to seeing you there - we hit enough people so its on regardless of weather (according to the lead instructor) - we got bumped to Saturday due to the local police doing training that day and they get priority.
