And people with guns that will shoot back: Not enough.

But be damned sure I will shoot someone if they try to steal my stuff.

I wonder if insurance replaces wheels at dealer list prices which are something like $600 per wheel. If so if I had stock wheels I would almost hope someone would steal them so I could get some volks haha.

^that's a good point.

Thanks for the info, 9evolution. It would help to understand how we are comparatively. E.g. - is it in big cities like Chicago, NY, LA, SD, etc. Of course it would have to account for population to be relative.

I have a extra set of wheel locks that came with my X and if they will fit I would be willing to help you out. The dealer accidentally gave me two sets and I figure having two sets on is kinda excessive.

Best of luck, OP. Will insurance cover anything (probably not, just curious).
They covered both the rims and tires when it happened to me. Heck they even did the other two tires once I explained that all four tires needed to have the same treadwear.

It depends on coverage I suppose. In my case, they sent out an appraiser and he pretty much just asked what the price of the aftermarket wheels cost. It was way less than the stockers in any case so from the insurance point of view it was cheaper to just replace those. In this case, I'd hazard they would probably give up to whatever the stockers cost.

Get some OEM locking lug nuts. I have OEM locking lug nuts for my winter stockers and then aftermarket ones for the summer wheels.

Truthfully, these only slow down the professional thieves. It will stop the amateurs and hence why its worth it.

def what these guys are saying. wheel locks and an alarm. If you have a garage, that would be the way to go. But good luck on your finding your wheels. Odds are, most thieves are idiots, they will steal your wheels, then drive past your house with them on their car. Make sure you check out the tuner scene down there and look out for your wheels on someone's car.

Agreed with that - stops the meth heads looking for a quick buck and slows down the pros. Pair it with a tilt alarm (someone else mentioned that earlier) and you should be gtg!

You live by northgate? Becareful around the mall area because around the mall is know for car jackings. I lived down first ave in a house not too long ago and someone tried to break into my roommate's integra. Well kind of stupid me but i moved even closer to the mall now. I'm at Thornton Place now but my room mates and I keep an eye on my car like a bird's eye. We should meet up sometime since you are so close. Anyone else from the northgate area?

How would people rate the northgate area to the southcenter area in terms of car and personal safety?

i would probably invest in good car alarm -when it goes off, your key remote goes nuts. This sucks man! (i dont think even wheel locks could help)

you could try different pattern wheel locks for each stud for each wheel. That would be 5 differnent sets of wheel locks though and It would be a pain.

^I've known people to do that. It is a pain, but arguably less so than having your wheels ripped off and going through that hassle.
