^ With the janky X rims and scrapes on the underside of the front lip they will be lucky to get the $15K opening bid price for that POS.

Uh...seriously? You let $500 get in the way of picking that car up, with upgrades, for that price? I realize you'd have more to pay still, but that seems a bit ri-*****-ulous.

Shouldnt fault a man for stucking to his guns. I am guessing if he found the car he REALLY wanted, $500 wouldnt stop him from getting it.

I'd fault a man wanting a hamburger for $5, someone offering a bacon-double-cheeseburger for $5.12 and the man turning it down! For fuggs sake, take the bacon, the cheese, and the extra patty off and sell them if you really want just a plain hamburger!

The only thing that should cause $500 to be a dealbreaker, IMO, is whether or not the car was abused. I can't vouch personally for Chris' car, but if that is the reason and I don't know all the context, then I can understand K20's position.

my position would be that IF $500 would break the bank in buying a new car, then you need to lower your budget by at least $1,000.

Tax, licensing and the usual items of buying a used car (change all fluids, small parts/repairs) are all part of the equation.

If your that close to your absolute limit, and buy the car, then end up having to sell the car because of repair x, y or z, then could you really afford the car?

There is a reason why lendors wont allow people to go over approximately 55-60% debt to income ratio when purchasing a vehicle..... Its just a car, it depreciates, sucks your money, and there are more out there.

yeah i have found that sticking to just GG got me into a huge hole quick. When I opened my mind to the idea of having white as another option it helped me find other cars as well. ( big thanks to francis for helping me find the WW MR) but yeah man if 500 bucks is standing in your way of picking up the car maybe you can look at those black ones. Both may be worth taking a look at and maybe one of those cars may change your mind about what color you want. But don't be me and just stick to one color it killed me looking for an evo. As long as the car is sound mechanically, treated well, and not bashed to hell on i think it is worth a look and to explore other colors. Remember the most important thing is to get into and evo, color you can always paint later on hehehehe

how many of you guys still owe on ur evo? half of you here. Dont knock me for 500 bucks when i have 20K cash in my hands. I want a PAID off car, no car loan. And the economy sucks so bad right now if i hold on to it ill find a good deal. I dont need one with tons of work done to it. Nothing towards Chris he seems a really good guy. I just dont need 500$ mirrors or a cf front lip or a rebuild tranny or transfer case. If it only has 60k miles why have they been replaced. hehe But its his car drive it how he wants.

And to ryan, There is no bank loaning me money...

"If your that close to your absolute limit, and buy the car, then end up having to sell the car because of repair x, y or z, then could you really afford the car?"

A Smart buyer would make sure that the vehicle doesnt need the XYZ repairs.

I sold my laptop to get another 500 to make it $20,500 and threw him another offer. I dont want to stress the pockets for licensing and insuring when I dont make near as much as you guys. Its ok HATE

Im the one with 205 hundred dolla benjamins in my hand

FWIW - I wasn't calling you a *****. Ridiculous sounds like 'dick' in the middle so I usually say ri-c-o-c-k-ulous but this forum wouldn't let me put in the word so I chose ***** instead.

*edit - It is a valid question regarding why things needed replacing at low mileage and like I said, I don't have the context. Far be it from me to call anyone a ***** for not buying something they don't want, even if it seems right to me.

Having $20K in cash is not a terribly wise investment strategy. If you put 30% down and invested the other $14K you might be able to get a solid 4-5% interest out of it while remaining liquid. And with 30% down your interest rate should be in the 4-5% range.

Dumping all $20K into a depreciating asset with zero liquidity...... brilliant!

Why not dump all your money into the IPO of Tesla motors? Another awesome investment if ever there was one.

If you being able to lord "at least I own my car outright" is some sort of power play or tribute of self importance, then save it for somebody who cant see through the smoke and mirrors of your "investment strategy"..... its a weak argument at best.

And Yahu absolutely didnt call you a *****.. He's far to nice of a guy.
