JDM rear installation

I see a lot of JDM rears on local Evo's so where did everyone go to have them installed? Or is this a Do-it-yourself project?

you can do it yourself, there's a thread on how to do it, or you can buy Assaulttech's modified rear crash beam and JDM bumper for more money. Here's the thread

You can do it yourself. The hardest part would be drilling out the old rivets off the bumper retainer, you have to reuse that part. I chose to go with the Demonwerks rear crash bar. It's nice because they have threaded holes for your rear license plate lamps. Otherwise, you will have to bend the stock bracket and make it work if you are going to not use a crash bar.

Bending the bracket was easy.
Having the crash beam shortened was a little harder, had to have my friend cut and weld at his shop.
As for the old rivets, I just cut the bottom of it, pushed up and they popped out.

Cut and weld a crash bar to fit? I don't recommend doing that for obvious reasons when you can bolt an aftermarket beam on that will fit a JDM rear.

My GG bumper and demonwerks are on their way!!

So if I am using the demonwerks, I DONT have to use the bumper retainer correct?

You use the main upper retainer that goes across the bumper for the bolts. You need that to mount your bumper. But you can toss the center section that use to hold on your license plate and lamps. I just drilled out the 2 spot welds from the main retainer. The lamps now go on your demonwerks bar. Enjoy your new look!

jdm rear was a fairly simple install although drillin out the rivets. Man having a drill with a weak battery and me wanting to get it done so fast doesnt work to well. haha
