Portland Tint: Highline Customs Tint / Clearbra experience

Hi all,

I've been meaning to write about this shop for a while. I was waiting for a good day to upload photos of the fantastic job they did, but it took so long for a clear day this is extremely delayed.

The short version: They were awesome, cheap and used quality materials. They bent over backwards to make sure I was absolutely happy. Top notch shop for sure!

The long version: I actually called around to many local shops. I wanted a shop that wouldn't pull any bs, and I'm usually pretty good about reading people. A few of the shops told me they've done a ton of Evo Xs. BS, there are only a few in the area, so I knew I wasn't going to them. Eric at Highline was straight up with me. He told me they've done some newer Lancers / Ralliarts, but no Xs yet. Well since the interior is exactly the same, I had no problem taking it to them since they had the brand of tint I wanted (Suntek) and the brand of clear-bra I wanted (VentureShield).

I arranged with them to do it on a Saturday. I was very stoked they tried to work around my schedule. When I first got there, I fell in love with their lobby. A huge salt water fish tank with Highline Customs in the background, and a TV with a ton of cool dvds and a player! Awesome!

One of the first things Eric asked me is what I wanted. Instead of trying to shove their products down my throat, or trying to persuade me to be 100% legal, he wanted to know what direction I wanted to take the car. Since I wasn't doing a show car and I really just wanted to be legal so I wouldn't get harassed, I decided to go with Oregon's 35%.

I asked them about the clear-bra. I knew of a few shops that cut into the paint! He explained that they work on high dollar cars all the time and they would be in super trouble if they ever cut into the paint. He guaranteed there wouldn't be any paint marks.

I actually took off and played in Portland for a few hours. I got a call and came back to find my car in show quality condition with the clear-bra and new tint. They installed felt on the inside rubber so the rubber wouldn't scratch the tint. With this option the Suntek is lifetime warranty. Any shop that does Suntek will have to replace it if anything happens to it (fade, scratch, detach, bubble, etc) free of charge for the lifetime of the ownership. I have to say the quality of the tint is superb.

As for the clear-bra on the Hood / bumper / rear doors. They did such a great job on rolling it when needed instead of cutting, working all the angles and covering a large portion of the rear doors. Perfect cuts, and popped the few little chips i had so it wouldn't detach and get moisture under it. The VentureShield is also warrantied.

The day I bought my car from Auburn Mitsubishi (who got it from Korum) I noticed a scratch on the rear bumper AFTER they detailed the car. I asked them about it, but since I didn't want to dig into the new paint I decided to just leave it.

Well the gang at Highline also found some dents in the rear passenger door (very subtle) that Korum tried to hide. As we were going through it Eric noticed they pushed the rubber grommet in the door in and didn't put it back to prove they did work on it. They advised me how to get it fixed from Korum, but I decided to ignore it since I already had a few thousand miles on it. Instead of decided to have Highline have their guy fix it. Man they did a great job on that as well.

A few weeks later I noticed I had "scratches" in my tint. I called Highline and they told me to bring it in and they will replace it. When I got there they showed me it was actually adhesive from the felt (it was really hot the day before). I tried to rub it out and made it kinda worse. Instead of charging me to replace it they went right to it and replaced it in about 10 minutes. Stand up guys.

I just want to say, if you're looking for tint and clear-bra in Portland, these are the guys. Their prices are the best around, their quality is 5 star, and their guarantee is the best. From now on they will be doing all of my Clear-bra, Tint, and Custom Vinyl on all of my vehicles.
