Like I need another hobby - bang bang
[Action Movie Voice Over Guy] In a world - where I already have way too many hobbies..... why not add another one. [/Action Movie Voice Over Guy]
I've been shooting since I was a teenager, but now it's time to have a little more fun. Just started doing competitive USPSA matches.

Built this gun up in the garage of course.

Low is good
To make things simple why not combine some of your hobbies into one, how about racing an Evo while shooting targets on the straight-aways, sure it might seem a little dangerous but at least you wont be missing out on either.
P.S. Nice gun, I personally own a Para 1911 GI and I must say that Para does make a great gun.

It's a Para high capacity 1911 in 9mm. Looks like this image below in stock form when I bought it.
I added the magwell on the bottom of the grip when I first got it, and then the C-More red dot sight very soon after. Shot it like that for a while, but it wasn't ready to use in real matches. Matches for Open division need to be shoot (for max points) at major power factor which is 165PF...... ((bullet weight x velocity)/ 1000). So for a 124gr 9mm bullet you need to be running above 1335 fps - standard 9mm moves at 1200 fps.
At that power factor you need/want the compensator on the barrel. So I got a KKM threaded bull barrel and a Brazos compensator and went through the process of learning to fit a match grade barrel and comp - which was a serious process and required some help from a local gunsmith. But with that update the gun can now shot 9mm ammo loaded to the maximum specified overall length and crammed full of slower burning powder which sends lots of gas through the comp, and makes the major power factor gun shoot with less muzzle flip and recoil. The ammo is also way over specified pressures and loads, and will blow up most production (loose chambered) guns if fired.
There's also the thumb rest on the side which helps support the gun better and gives a repeatable grip with the weak hand.
Since I took those pictures I've swapped out all the internals with light weight precision parts and added some grip tape to areas to make it more.... grippy.
