I-5 made me do it

I've been daily driving my Evo IX MR since I drove it off the lot. I've driven it through heavy NY/NJ traffic, through the infamous Washington DC beltway. But, it was not until I've experienced mind numbing I-5 traffic, that I started contemplating on finding an alternate commuter.

So, without further adieu...

2011 Honda CR-Z
It's a fun little car to drive, and it's a hybrid!

Maybe I'm just getting old, or I just wanted to preserve the Evo's mileage (40k), but this car just seems right. It's not terribly fast or "prius" efficient, but has the feel of a perfect daily driver and Evo alternative. I just have to resist modding it!

i think i'd drive that car maybe if my job gave it to me heh.... i rather drive a honda fit then that, no comprehende

you could have bought the fit in the mid teens and saved you tons of money and less tax and get close in mpg and MORE usable space. i bet insurance would be cheaper too.

I've driven the Fit before, and you're right about all those things. I just didn't want to have another "me too" car. Besides, it's a better built car than the Fit. It all comes down to what other car is a sporty 2-seater, sub-$20k, and gets 40+ mpg? It's a niche car, and I don't think Honda is marketing it for the masses...just like the Evo.

I would like to see if they up the power plant in it for the future models. That would possibly get em to bite at one.

Honestly... I can drop a 4G63 in there

Kinda cool little car though. I am impressed with the design. I like it.

I would do some research before you buy a CR-Z. The 2010 Car of the Year Issue of Car & Driver talks about a poor build quality.

Car & Driver Review

Personally, I would go with the manual transmission for a higher resale value since most will buy it with the auto, manual would be the rarity. The manual would suck in stop/ go traffic though

edit: Just saw that you've already bought it.

It's a Honda; they likely won't increase the power, at least not significantly enough to matter.

I personally wouldn't have gone that route; I would have saved cash and gone used. I personally like my truck as my other car, just because the versatility it offers. I don't however like my truck as my main car when my Evo has gone down.

Regardless, congrats on the new car. It obviously is what you wanted, which is all that matters.

Jdm

I appreciate all the opinions fellas. Read a lot of reviews before getting it, but seeing and driving it in person squashed all my preconceptions about it. It's trendy and it's mad JDM tyte yo!
In my garage heirarchy, the Evo and the MB stays in the garage, this stays outside.
