hi everyone

hi guys, its been a while since i was here. im considering buying a new evo MR but im not sure yet. its a toss up between getting a GTR or getting an Evo MR and just mod it up. i have always loved the Evo's and i love the GTR very much but the maintenance costs will just run up quick over time. it also seems like if you sneeze wrong, your base warranty will be voided when it comes to the GTR. i really love AWD turbo cars. they are total fun and i have a big interest in joining the evo community finally! my old roommate had an evo so i met a lot of you guys at one point

I would go with an evo...gtr would be awesome but seems like it would be a headache with worrying about voiding your warranty and you would have a lot more money for mods for the evo..but that's just my .02

that is actually what i am thinking. you can make stupid power with the GTR but i just dont think i want to deal with the maintenance side of the car. a tranny flush at a dealer runs almost $800. the bottles are about $80 a piece. oil changes can push up to $200 as well. who makes the best upgrade kits for the evo's? i know AMS Performance makes stuff. i was considering a used 09 GTR and then drop full cash on an alpha 9 upgrade for it.

AMS told me the stock GTR tranny can handle up to 700hp. they said if they put the kit on my car, they would top it out at 650 to be safe. they do make insane stuff over there too!

Why worry about warranty? If your baller enough to get one then why worry, money shouldn't be a problem. Don't front, if you cant back it up!

its not the warranty. if i buy the used one i want, im gonna violate the warranty hardcore and not look back. i just think too much into things. its hard because i love the evo and the GTR is just too good to pass up. dont be shocked if i picked up a used evo 9 and own the GTR lol

lol, you guys talk about warranty like evo's are any better...

as far as maintenance cost, go on the gtr forums and see what its actaully costing owners. from what I hear its greatly inflated by internet gtr haters, but never looked into it to know for sure.

if I could afford it, I'd get the GTR, cause if I could afford a GTR and extra 1k (pulled that number out of my ***) over the evo of maintenance cost per year isn't a big deal. lets face it, the evo isn't exactly a worry free car when it comes to up keep...

and the transmission issues have been solved long ago. if you're gonna track your GTR get the cooling setup from Forged Motorsport. getting the GTR tranny up to snuff for track use isn't much different than the MR tranny. for street use you have nothing to worry about tranny wise unless you launch at every stoplight. and if you decide to build a 1000 hp monster, you're warranty goes out the window with any car...

i did some looking around. i might go talk to Illtech Auto about their GTR they did. they have a package for about $7k but it doesnt include upgraded turbos. i have to ask them questions about their kit. its a 700hp kit but thats to the crank. that would net about 560-580hp to the wheels give or take. the cobb accessport makes insane power on a GTR. i like to have the GTR to be a baller lol!

If you're gonna mod a GTR, Cobb Portland / Surgeline is the place to go in the NW. They're kinda like the English of the GTR world in the NW...
