Here is the most recent update from logging the car yesterday when the intermittant error occured.

It looks like there is a fuel starvation happening right when it starts sputtering really bad, the o2 sensor reads zero volts, so it's leaning out really bad (no wide band), and the fuel injectors have the exact same value of 1.024 duty cycle until it starts running right again, at which point they jump back up to whatever the requested IDC is.

It's intermittent, and we're about to test the pump, but what else could it be? Injectors?

TPS is all odd. I really think there are some electrical gremlins at work. What is the resting TPS? Is the clip on all the way with the factory lock, is the 4 bar on with the factory lock, Is the O2 sensor on at idle? It stops cycling and the shudder fix has been done so the fact that it drops out like that is odd.

Ryan was pumping the pedal there, so that accounts for the odd tps readings. It was doing it before the tune last dyno day, and according to him, it just started a few weeks ago, so it has to be something electrical. It happens more once the vehicle is warmed up too. I'm gonna drop some spare injectors in it tomorrow, and see if that doesn't make a difference.

Aaron

As Andrew stated, I was pumping the gas as it seems to help prevent the car from dying in the middle of the road.

The 4-bar is on with the factory lock, as is the TPS.

I feel the problem occurs most often when at a very low throttle input, say, just enough throttle to maintain a speed, rather than compression braking and/or accellerating. when we push-started it on the side of the road I sat at the next red light holding it to about 3,000 RPM and it didnt stumble, however that is not a good solution!

Aaron, do you have any other hunches or input based upon what you are seeing in the log above?

Another update: While the 4 bar MAP sensor tests fine, when the cannon plug is jiggled the car dies, so it seems we have found our issue!

So here is where I would like some input. Would this indicate the MAP sensor itself is bad and needs replacing, or that the cannon plug needs to be replaced, or both??????

What say you?

Guys, I need confirmation on this, if it is the MAP sensor harness that has gone bad, will the harness that SpoolinUp sells work for this?

It looks quite a bit different than the OEM MAP sensor harness.

There is a point a and a point b. when connected and jiggle the car dies. It could be either. As for what is more common, that I don't know. Call ER - I think I read you got the sensor from them?

Update: I took the car home last Thursday and suffered through some horrible drives where the car randomly died at freeway speeds (JOY!).

However, I want to give a HUGE thanks to English Racing and Aaron who were kind enough to do a warranty replacement of the 4-bar MAP sensor I bought from them. It arrived at work yesterday and I swapped the sensors in the garage at work.

Drove about 50-70 miles last night to fully test the system and everything is working, no stumbling, no dying and I havent been stranded on the side of the road!!!!

English really did me a solid favor in sending the sensor and the bad sensor just went in the mail back to them this morning.

THANK YOU SO MUCH AARON!!!

And thanks Andrew for correctly diagnosing the problem and letting me use one of your Evo's as a loaner car for two weeks while my car was virtually undrivable, all while refusing any sort of financial compensation!

Why sure, no problem Ryan, anytime!

You got your thanks in person, which is more than a forum post! Plus the rusty trombone.

Also, you were offered financial compensation, which you refused while smiling in a evil way as you said "i'm sure you can do some detailing on my cars"..... And you were treated to dinner dates on many nights when your ladies were unavailable to fulfil your social needs.
