No knock on your post Eric (AMS Eric, that is). I knew what you were saying but others were missing Jason's (GTisRule) point. I have no doubts about the ALPHA 12, what it is capable of, and the tremendous job you guys have done. I was just trying to help people remember the point Jason had made since the conversation swayed away from that (*gasp* conversation swaying on evom! the horror!).

And no, it wouldn't touch the Bugatti's top speed. You gotta remember the Veyron is a purpose built car specificially for top speed. Aerodynamics, gearing, cooling, and of course horsepower is all engineered for those numbers. In the world of top speed, there's some high end contenders that tuning companies can't compete with due to the fact they're working with an existing designs with multiple compromises, where a "top speed" car is engineered around it's intent.

top gear raced an "old" McLarean F1 (The million dollar supercar) against the Bugatti Veyron. The McLarean killed it off the line and for the first 1/2 mile or so, then the Veyron came on and won in the end.
Ok your not impressed ok thats your opinion. But what Top Gear did in comparing the Mclaren F1 and the Veyron was stupid. The mclaren yes would win off the line its lighter. yeah yeah wheelspin. but half way down the track the mclaren would have used up it 600 Hp and the veyron would have laugh at it, I still got 401 more Horses to go. Plus not to mention the Techology gap 1992 as appose to 2002. But if the Veyron and Alpha 12 were to go down the strip it would of course destroy the Veyron. Better weight distro and more power.

What is there to refute? He says it himself, no it wouldn't beat it top speed, for the same reasons I said before. AMS is working with a body that they didn't create from scratch, the same thing I said previously, working with an existing design vs. a car that's designed for 1 soul purpose, top speed.

Also, you know that the SS version of the Veyron took some $150k of changes (including the 1300 bhp engine) and the rest aero work to get that record top speed held by the car. It's not a gear ratio thing like everyone thinks here, even Eric says that in his post.

Not quite sure where this 0 - 60 in the bugatti is 5.6 sec either...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bugatti_Veyron

And granted, you still have $1.5 million to spend give or take, but the claims are false that it's faster than a bugatti. Top speed is how "fast" a car goes.

Wow this thread's gone all over the place hahaha
nobody said the veyron did 0-60 in 5.6 seconds... it does 60-130mph around 5.6 seconds with Vbox data from an actual owner to back that up. The ALPHA 12 does 60-130 in 3.34 seconds

Its ok, we dont hate ya

Eric
