NASA - No Northwest Region?

http://www.nasaproracing.com/

Have any of you that track frequently contacted NASA about having a NW region? It's a shame that the closest NASA tracks are Infineon, Thunderhill, etc...

My car is built for TTA, I made the mistake of not checking before I moved up here. Now I have nowhere to compete lol.

But has anyone contacted the organization in the past to find out whether or not it is in the future? If not, I'll be more than happy to start sending emails, making calls, etc...

Rally runs NASA events up here in the NW. NASA RallySport, that is. Ray Hocker is the man in charge on the west coast for our sport... He mqy know of who to chat with about on road race. I'll give him a call if you are serious about starting up.

I've been an organizer. Are you sure you want to start down this path?

If you are looking to do time trials, NWR SCCA has a program.

Absolutely, I'm sure quite a few of us would be appreciative as I wasn't looking forward to having to travel all the way to CA or NV just to work through the HPDEs and obtain my TT license

Would be fantastic to use some of the local tracks such as PIR, ORP, and Pacific Raceway...

Thanks RallyDSM, let us know what Ray says!

In the meantime, I emailed Greg Greenbaum (National NASA director) to see what he says. I'll update the thread when he responds...

We have IRDC up here. Don't know where/how an evo fits, but worth a look

Right now, the time trial group appeals most to me and it doesn't appear that IRDC offers that type of racing? In any case, I'm still wondering why NASA doesn't offer a NW region - it is basically the only part of the country not in their realm...

We have Conference and SCCA that runs all the local tracks you mentioned. Ever consider running ICSCC right here in the PNW? There are a couple local subies in conference racing. Would love to see an Evo hand it to them.

I've definitely thought about it but I'm not necessarily keen on the idea of wheel-to-wheel racing with the Evo at this juncture which is why the NASA TT stuff seems very appealing besides availability in the NW.

I've run track days with Cascade SCC quite a few times and they seem like a good group but I'd do Spec E30s, Hondas, or Miatas if I was to go true wheel-to-wheel

In that case SCCA time trials is your best bet. They have a lot less rule restrictions too. I think a lot of time trials don't even require you to have a cage and all the safety equipment SCCA requires for road racing. At least that's how it was at SCCA Nationals a couple years back. Not sure about now.

I want to say there hasn't been a concerted effort. Usually it takes a group of people to setup a region as there are multiple "offices" that need to be filled. I would be willing to assist in anyway, I have been to quite a few NASA events in Texas.
