Rattle from WG actuator door?!?!

So after removing my 02 dump lastnight, I thought I would check this rattle that I've been hearing around my 02 housing area. With the WG actuator attached the actuator door is shut tight with no movement. But when I removed the WG actuator and manually move the level for the door it has a good amount of play to cause a rattle. Is there anyway to adjust that or fix it. I'm pretty sure that's the cause because I can only hear it after making one good pull when I had my o2 dump on, then my car sounds like it has a bad exhaust leak with a rattle.

Try tightening the WGA arm a turn or 2. Mine did the same thing like 4 yrs ago when I first removed the OEM 02 housing & put an aftermarket 02 housing on. You may think its shut tight but after driving the car/going into boost & it opens the flapper may become slightly loose. When removing & installing new parts they may "settle" some & things may need to be gone over again. Like manifold, 02 housing & downpipe bolts or the WGA arm.

You may think the WGA arm is tight but I bet you could "preload" it another turn or 2...

Check the WG preload and also check the downpipe gasket and O2 Housing Gasket for the exhaust leak...I had the same issue after installing my dump...I ended up having to pull the turbine housing off the turbo and tightening the rear bottom nut more...that nut is such a b*tch to get to on the car so pulling the turbine housing off makes it so much easier to get everything tight

I've had this issue before as well. However it doesnt seem like there is the option of much pre-load. I have the FP 19psi unit and it doesnt seem to have the option to change the pre-load.

Hmmm, perhaps old school version? I have the same WG on my IX and it has preload adjustability.

After putting the dump back on today and hitting boost. The car still sounds like shiet and I have that rattle still. Everything is tight, I also have already adjusted the preload on the WG 2 spins. After returning home I put my hand by the dump pipe and you can feel the exhaust leak. You don't feel that at idle when I don't hit boost. Any more suggestions?

This seems like my problem, got it from another thread.

"I hope it's not another case of a failed wastegate flapper valve weld. Whereby the wastegate port in the turbine housing is constantly open due to the flapper valve separating from the pivoting arm's shaft."

I seem to have a similar problem while warming up my car. After the car is warm, it goes away. Preload is at two and a half turns. Time for an external setup I suppose.

PM this guy, he might be able to help get your WG issue figured out.
