E85 Fuel Composition Test (Starting Oct. 7th)

So this morning I filled up at the Smokey Point station and grabbed a sample to test once I got in to work. Tested it using the GM Fuel Composition Tester (J-44175)...Results came out to 85.47% Ethanol! Sounds like we are still currently on summer-blend! I plan on testing again in a week or so to determine when they make the switch to winter-blend. I'll keep the results posted

Test 1- October 7th 2011= 85.47% Ethanol

You're the man Tim. I need to get a sample of the Lacey station and bring it to you.

Are you saying that we are running the equivalent to E85 in normal gas pumps right now?

Or

are you saying that E85 pumps are actually putting out E85 and during the winter, they don't usually?

Sorry, just confused. Been a long day already

Generally speaking, in colder states the ethanol will be changed to a blend more like E70 for easier staring and such.

Ethanol production usually switches to a winter blend in the fall to assist in cold starts. Usually around E70 - E75.

EDIT:// ^^^ he beat me

Its all good man I hear you about it being a long day today! I'm so ready to start the weekend! But No this is fuel straight out of the E85 pump from the public station up in Smokey Point. I've haven't tested anything from a normal gasoline pump yet but not that you mention it I think I might do that this weekend just because I'm curious about the actual ethanol content for normal gas now....
