Clutch install offer!
Clutch install offer!
So I'm looking for someone local who knows how to install a clutch. I'm trying to get all the maintenance done for the car for when the wife has to take care of it for a year when I deploy haha I've never done a clutch job and reading the how to I'm not about to attempt it alone. I could get it done by a shop but I would have to settle for a budget clutch since funds are a little tight. If someone local could help me out for beer/dinner/some cash or whatever and my undying gratitude that would be awesome. I live in Lacey but I'd be willing to travel/pay for gas, whatever is easiest. Thanks!

Hopefully you can find someone to help you out. The how-to is actually really well written with pretty good pictures. It's just one step after another and is actually a lot easier than I thought it was going to be. I have done several RWD clutch jobs before but never a FWD/AWD one, so I was a little worried I was going to regret it. If you have an assortment of good tools and you are mechanically inclined you shouldn't have a problem. I did most of it by myself, just needed my friend's help to man the jack while I put the transaxle back in. Only hard part I ran into was the bolt access on the rear engine mount, and one bolt on the transfer case was tough to get to. Gear wrenches will make the job a lot easier. Was able to save a decent chunk of change doing it myself and went with the Exedy Twin HD because of that.
Also, make sure whoever helps you doesn't let the jack slip while you are under there, letting the 150lb transaxle fall 18" and damn near break two of your fingers.

When do you need this done by? I will be back in wa on the 18 and can give you a hand if you need it. I have done a couple clutch installs and is willing to help if you need it.

Thanks to everyone who replied, you guys are awesome! I blew my head gasket the other day though so my plans to get an exedy are delayed for a bit...
The car might have to wait a year until I get back the way things are going haha
Done a few motor builds and headgasket replacements on evos and done several clutch installs I'm just out I'n graham and can get it all up and going for you if you decide to get it done now! Just pm me and we can see if we can work something out!
I'll be back to Lewis in 2 weeks. If you want to install before you deploy let me know. I got a few install jobs under my belt.
I gotta install my Exedy twin also before I deploy so I can get my damn car tuned down at ER.
