Perrin and Matrix Engineering should be your first stop!!

If you have a Evo 8 and your looking for a great local spot (PDX) to get some work done by some amazing people go to www.matrixengineering.cc and call them now!

I just spent half a day with these guys putting in a Perrin turbo back exhaust w/ cat delete pipe and this has to be by far the most professional shop I have ever been too! Just to give one small example, I have never been to a shop where the guys are meticulous enough to spendtime ensuring that your exhaust pipe comes out EXACTLY center from the rear valance. Most guys would just give it a nudge and call it good enough. In fact I spent most of my time tellin the guys "Dont worry about that." or "Its not that big of a deal." And they dont do it for the hourly rate because that price is all set up front so you know what you are paying. Its good to find a shop that cares about its customers!

The Perrin exhaust for the Evo 8 will absolutely blow your socks off! The guys at Perrin somehow managed to capture what I think is the perfect sound for the car. Its very aggressive but doesnt sound like a "fart pipe" on a civic and gives you REAL HP gains and a much faster turbo spool up. I had dyno runs done on the car before and after the exhaust installation! The numbers were 226WHP@6500 and 208#tq@5000 before the exhaust and after the exhaust they came to 239WHP@6500 and 215#tq@5000.

I havent done any other mods on my car yet but will be doing XEDE, Intake, FMIC and Cams over the next few months. I will have all the dyno run videos and pictures on the web soon along with step by step installation instruction for the Perrin exhaust setup later this week!

Thanks for the great review. I'm having the Perrin turbo-back and HKS V boost control installed in March. Now I know I definitely made a good choice. I ws just perusing the NW forum to see if their were any Portland Evo afficianodos. I am curious about your city and was contemplating relocating.

Portland is an amazing place to live!! Its one of the few areas that you can go skiing in the morning and watch the sunset on the ocean in the evening! The weather is mild pretty much year round, although we do get the occasional snow or ice storm. Perfect weather for an AWD car =) The car scene isnt huge but there are quite a few local groups with a bunch of good guys and for larger organizations Seattle is only 3 hours away. The downside to PDX right now is the overall job market, which is very weak, and the rising cost of living. It isnt as bad as California but it sometimes feels like it.

None the less none of the negative things could ever make me move away! Im not a natural born Oregonian but I have lived here for the past 10 years and before then I used to move to a different state every 1 to 1 1/2 years!

and I also have a dyno video completed for your viewing pleasure. I think the video really captures the sound of the exhaust very well!!

I wanted to say I agree with ya Chris! The PERRIN exhaust is amazing. Quality, sound, looks and performance are all there. I couldn't believe on a stock car how it opens up past 5k, no more does it feel like it looses power after 5k. Glad to see you got it!

Here is the PERRIN web site if anyone is interested:
www.perrinperformance.com

If anyone wants to see/hear the PERRIN exhaust let me know I would be happy to show ya. Going to be at the WRX DynoDay this Saturday at Matrix is anyone is interested.

And ya Matrix is awesome, do doubt about it.

Later...

Well Perrin did it again!
Just got back from Matrix Engineering where we installed a Perrin boost controller and a Forge BOV. The horsepower gains this time were very very dramatic. I went from 239WHP@6500 to 278WHP@6750 and from 215#tq@5000 to 244#tq@5000. I really wasnt expecting such large gains.

We stayed pretty conservative on the boost by only letting it peak at 19.5 psi, which should keep it close to stock!

I didnt get any video this time =/ The whole thing was unplanned so I wasnt prepared. I will however get the Dyno sheets posted on my site and post the link. Probably wont get this done until I get back from the show in Seattle. Hope to see you guys there!!
