GLASS ROOF = NO DOME LIGHT - Help!

Ive got a 2011 OS with the panoramic roof.

Love it during the night and on cloudy days but I hate that when I open the rear doors at night I have no lighting in the rear whatsoever!

Anyone have a cure for this or know of an aftermarket item?

Id love to see and LED strip run across where the panels slide in for storage.

Thanks!

I have the same problem.

I've seen some owners add LED lighting under the seats. I was planning to look into this but I'm not sure I want to slice into the factory wiring.

I'd recommend adding some directional LED's from superbrightleds.com to the B or C pillars - they sell ready-to-wire 12V kits that should be easy to route up to the front map lights for power.

My gripe with this is when my daughter or anybody else is in the back seat, there is 0 lighting for the rear seat passengers. They should be able to install some sort of lighting on the side of the headliner like a map light on both sides.

you can the buy the rear dome light for the non panoramic models and should be able to install it right behind the back seats but you will have to cut a hole in the headliner and wire it up.

I bought a set of vw Jetta's rear dome light from junk yard since it has switch on it. But went I got back to try to cut the roof and place the lamp, it found out that it was too close to the curtain air bag. So I gave up.

I went to home depot another day and saw they were selling the LED lamp used for the under cabinet lighting in the kitchen. It was in gray color which is very similar to our interior color. So I bought two of that. The size of the whole lamp was like 5cm diameter with 3cm thickness. It fit very well in the back. I wired them to the from passenger map lamp. So right now it lights up when you open toe door and you can also turn it on or off with the passenger map lamp switch. It works well especially when you are looking for something in the back at night. I will post picture tomorrow so you guys can get an idea.

So let me shine some light on this problem this for our Outlander Sport.

We went to this website:
http://store.ijdmtoy.com/Mitsubishi-...ights-s/33.htm

And bought the super bright multi blub map light leds for the EVO (same as Outlander sport) and it fills the cabin and adds light into back seat. Just plug and play.

I don't see how the map lights even with brighter bulbs would light up the rear foot wells which are behind the seats and lower down. The only place I see it lighting up a bit is the centre area of the back seat, which is not very useful.

They don't; the OP was asking IMO about having no light "in the rear (seat) whatsoever". No map light will shine down at the footwell, unless it is a bubble shaped corolla from the 90s. For almost any car you would need seperate footwell lights if it is just the footwells you are concerned about, if that is what you are into If you are looking for just more light in the back seat in general, the led map lights do add more

foot light was firstly installed. The bulb was cut from other cars in junk yard. Wiring to the passenger side was the most difficult. I had to take the stereo and glove box out to reach the wire from side to side.

not too bad in the back

This is the one from VW. Just can't cut the roof, too close to the airbags.

looks good! Probably more work than most people are willing to do to their cars.
