+1 Your front tints will ALWAYS look lighter than your rear because of all the light coming in from your enormous windshield, unless you you go down to like 5%, but on any other than sunny days, they will look perfect at 20%.

A lot of people forget about the huge front windshield as a gateway for sunlight, heat and UV rays to come in. I wanted my front windows to match the rest of the OEM windows, so I had 15% over the OEM tint, 5% for the two front windows to match the rears, and the ENTIRE front windshield 15%.

People will probably ask won't the cops give you a ticket? I've had my 2G's front windshield completely tinted since I bought it new from the dealership in 1999, and have never been pulled over or received a citation for the window tint. I love how it reduces glare from oncoming headlights, and of course keeping the black interior cool.

For those who consider only tinting the front windows, please remember that the OEM tint on the rear windows are only for privacy, and not UV protection. Not sure about our panoramic glass, but I close it shut during the day just for piece of mind to protect the interior.

I think you'll be very dissatisfied with only 40% up front. If you want it close, but not darker than the rear, you can find a tint shop that has 25% tint. Also, keep in mind, brand is actually important with tint. 3M makes some very long lasting film where as some other brands will give **** poor results, even when applied professionally. Just food for thought when shopping for "a good deal".

FYI, here's mine at 20%

I got mine tinted 20% with 3M window tint & although the quality of the tint is good....it seems as though the front tints have a blueish hue to them in direct sunlight where as the factory tinted glass has a tan/brownish hue in sunlight....has can anyone recommend a brand that comes close in terms of color so that its not so obvious? Is there more then 1 type of 3M tint?

3M itself makes different varieties http://solutions.3m.com/wps/portal/3...ts/Automotive/

But, how certain are you that you actually received 3M film?

the 2013 os rear privacy glass meters out at 26% so the fronts being done at 20% is correct that the 20 would be darker. The 11-12 Outlander sports privacy glass meters out at 19-20% so it would be spot on. I have tinted both of ours personally and found the difference when I did the 13.

This was our 11. 15% over privacy glass (metered at 3%), 15% on front doors and 35% on the whole windshield.

our 13, same tint darknesses..

So the newer models have a lighter tint?

Is there ANYTHING that didn't make worse on the 2013+ models?!

It is a little lighter but it sure didnt make the vehicle worse... thats a little silly saying that.

We went from an 11 to a 13 and like it just the same. Nice thing about the 13 is it came with the back up camera where our 11 didnt have it.

Rear seat pass through eliminated, lighter tint, different airbox, plastic unpainted side moldings, etc.

It's a lot more than just the tint lol

Rear seat pass through was still available on the 13's. Just the 14's that got shafted on that aspect.

very minor details to most...

I guess I judge the quality of a vehicle on powertrain mainly.

it runs and drives good... I guess a few little things like the above mentioned are very much not important to me. The pass through? That does nothing for me. The tint being a hair lighter, tint over it. The black moldings... less area for the paint to peel from normal wear and tear. Airbox being different, umm who cares.

Point being that it is the same vehicle and the quality is still the same, it just doesnt have some of the same features that the older ones. Very minor details to **** and moan over.

Bigger issues would be , where is the domelight for the pano roof? How about the hp rating of the 2.0, could we get a 2.4 like the lancer se? What about better stock tires for people who are in areas that get major snowfalls?

These would be legitimate concerns?!
